About Me

CURRENT MISSION

getting to know Sweden and Stockholm

ABOUT ME

So people say I can be intimidating, but I am just straightforward and open. I think it is a consequence of being raised by an emergency doctor. I enjoy small things, sometimes watching rain or snow makes me extremelly happy. I love people and I love being alone. I like to talk (and I do talk a lot) but I listen too. I try to smile a lot and look at the positive side of things and most of the time I think I am doing well. Many small things make me happy such as:

color ORANGE (in combination with black, but don't think Haloween, I am from a country where we don't celebrate this)
bubblemakers
bubbles
breaking glass
pancakes
ginger
cinnamon
pink elephants
tomatoes
baking+cooking
collages

PHILOSOPHY

"what does not kill you makes you stronger" (that's what my mum always told me...along with life isn't always fair...)

-- but I know this does not seem very positive, but it is. When something happens or I am sad it always forces me to remember that there is something good in every bad thing that happens. And that's how I try to take life, there is good in everything. That's why I do not regret things I have done and choices I have made because they formed me and I like who I am :)

oh I also like what this quote encompasses: "live is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be lived" (even though I like to think about actions and consequencess and how people arrive at being who they are)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started small, but I am excited to host and meet people. I move around a lot so hosting might be difficult for a little bit, but I believe in connecting to people and that's what I am excited about with CS

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been to Chicago with my friend Kitty. Unfortunately I could stay only one day. Our host was very nice and the 24 hours were memorable (I nearly missed my plane to Europe because we went iceskating : ) I couchsurfed in Sweden a bit too.

Many of my friends are on couchsurfing or speak of it very positivelly, so I want to try

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

books: mainly novels and fiction
Winnie the Pooh, Russian classics - Nabokov, Tolstoj, Dostojevski, Orwel, Milan Kundera,Balzac, some science fiction and fantasy - Ender's Game, Dune and others (Tracy's Tiger for example)

(These are the first that come to mind, but I love reading.I love when the book absorbs me and where I am walking I am thinking what will happen, about the characters, think about the mood of the book. I love when I am exhausted but I am so caught up in reading that I cannot put it away and tell to myself that I will read just one more page and I read for extra hour...

movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Harold and Maude, first Chronicle of Narnia, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Run Lola Run, Lost in Translation, Angels of the Universe, some czech movies and many many others which I cannot recall right now

music: I have no single style. I like what my mood makes me to like at that moment - ranging from Prodigi and soundtrack to Run Lola Run through Ratatat, Architecture in Helsinki to Florence and the Machine or Shinead O'Connor

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think that the most amazing things I have done are the small ones (I have been to cool places and saw cool things...but things I see as amazing when I think of other people and me too are the moments they give so it would be - The nights when I stayed up with a friend because they needed it, travelled across a city to help someone or so on.

Teach, Learn, Share

LEARN: I believe you can learn from anyone, even people you do not click with and people who are very different from you, it just depends what you are after and there are many ways to know. Ok, this sounds rather abstract, but for example when I traveled in SOuth Africa and lived with rural Zulu family, they barely spoke english and my Zulu sucks. I still learned from them so much, about how they love and raise their children, what I should be doing and how, how I should treat people around me.

TEACH: oh I am the jack of all trades not good in anything. I can teach basic poi, I can teach you something about Czech history and communism (personal stories included), I can teach you Czech :) I love to bake and cook so maybe that but there are many many better cooks than me, mabye I can teach you how to read when you walk : )

SHare: I will share what I know, gladly!
