About Me
2022, Ximena and me are trying to know our own country.
2019 was a bad one. My sister passed away. So I am not going to host for a while.
I have to visit my parents because the struggles on Chile.
My friends.
Unfortunatelly my sister has died from Leukemia.
I have a lot of experiences on CS for more than 10 years.
I do know what CS means for me.
I do care about my profile. Therefore I am very respectful with travelers. So I have explained the situation of my house beforehand.
Greetings.
Oscar
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Why?
Being part of CS has changed our life.
Hosting has showed us the best part of people that travels.
And when we couchsurfed, we have enjoyed and we always remember the time we spent with our hosts.
CS is something so great!!!
But I know what CS is not:
It is not free hostel. (At least call me by my name)
CS is not to make a reservation, it is to meet people.
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love the reference from Hyohakusha, when we traveled in France, I do feel he saw us deeply.
We were like children amazed by our trip.
no fumamos, ni tomamos
we dont drink alcohol, neither smoke.
but when you are in our home, you could do that respecting our space.
when you are in your home, you should not ask me permision at all. (A girl hosted us, and she didnt want to smoke in her own house, because of us. Come on, it is your house, your rules).
Chile, Te Quiero (Chile , I love you)

happy surfing.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
we mostly host CS
MAYORMENTE HOSPEDAMOS
I once read here in CS:
a visitor is just a friend you havenot met yet.
and I like it.
TRY TO TAKE THE Free tour TO CHUQUICAMATA:
and every week day there is a trip to THE OPEN CAST COPPER MINE OF Chuquicamata, at 1pm from Calama. They return to Calama around 4-5 pm. You have to call beforehand at 55- 2322122 to book. To arrive at the bus station where the tour begins, just take the shared taxi (colectivo) No.5 from Latorre Street, and ask the driver to take you to the "Codelco, al tour de la mina". It is on the corner of Granaderos and Central Sur (¨a Granaderos con Central Sur¨). After the tour you can catch the shared taxi No.5 to return to the centre as well.
The mine of Chuquicamata is about 20 km away from Calama.
Interests
MUCHAS GRACIAS.
When we travel, we like to share with our host. Usually we are able to walk on the city by our self, we like to walk, and we have also prepared some meals for our hosts.
But the very best is that we have enjoyed a lot our travels. I think It is not about cheap lodging, it is absolutely about sharing with hosts.
I have several english courses on my hard disk driver to share if you like.

Music, Movies, and Books
I want to write this here.
since the change of platform in CS, it happened to me as well to many others,
we have lost our status of reply. I do reply as much as I can, I mean, almost every one of the couch requests, but when the platform changed on 2014, my rate dropped completely. I have asked many times, but they can not change it, even though they know that this have already happened to many people.
muchisimos:

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Here, landscaping of Chiu-Chiu it's incredible, the moon valley, and the extreme desert (maybe the dryest one in the world), some one said that the south of bolivia is similar.
I remember , been in a high hill in Peine (mountains), with my friends we climb it, the desert was like a big ocean.
On Toconao, the feeling of being sorrounded by many volcanoes. You can see it for the shape of the area on the map.
the chilean beachs, the carnaval en ecuador.
the customes in the meeting of indigenous in otavalo(ecuador), they dress with real leopard leather. very serious.
AND ANOTHER THING AMAZING.
been in USA , in my second day there, I cant call by the thelephones. one guy and his family look at my trouble and very gentle he offered me his cell phone to make my call. after I used it, I ask him why he helped me, his reason was because we are all human being. they were a muslim family, the first one I ever seen in my life, and totally change my point of view. I know, we are all childs of the same God.

In the center of the city there are lots of cibercafes, internet centers, net, whatever you call them. Just crossing the corner of my block there are 5. And around the center, several more.
In the mall , and in the TURBUS STATION (it is for Buses of Tur Bus and Pulman Bus) If you arrive there, inside of that bus station you will find 3 or more computers.

ABOUT SECURITY:
I have lived all my life here, and I used to dislike hearing my city was dangerous.
Now, I must aware you, and to other travellers:
Calama is getting more dangerous.
Be very careful on bus stations, sometimes there are groups of thieves, one of them distract the passenger while the others pick poket or baggage robber. I know they also pick the whole backpack or the important bag.
I have hosted a few Cs that suffered big loss.
Please Be careful.
Also about your camera, If biking, always lock it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hi, you know, it already happened to us:
my father and me were hosted in a city not very visited (alperdorn) and the hosts want to go to amsterdam, with us. then our host very wiselly wanted us to share the parking ticket in amsterdam. that was fantastic.
the same happened sharing gas ticket when moving to another place.
that is awesome, cheap for us, and one oportunity to travel for hosts too.
I wish we could share expenses as many times as posible.
