Overview
About Me
I'm a clean, courteous and laid back Australian who's been living and working just outside of Washington, D.C. for a little over a year now. I'm brand new to couch surfing but I'm definitely not new to travel and am open to the new experience!
I'm not currently in a position to be able to host, but I hope that one day I can return the kindness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel, and I love learning about other people and their cultures. Couch surfing is the perfect way to fully and deeply experience the culture of the place I am visiting; all whilst saving a penny or two.
By staying with a local, I can get a real, authentic taste of the city that just wouldn't be possible if i was just going by the guide book. I want to come away from this experience with a real taste of what it is like to walk around in the shoes of a local; even if it is only for a few days!
Interests
Aside from the obvious (travel, duh!), I love photography and art. If you're interested, I keep my instagram (fayling1994) updated with my travel photos and my art.
I never shy away from an adventure; I've been canyoning in Europe, I've skydived on two continents and scuba dived on three. I've rock climbed, abseiled, kayaked, canoed, paddle boarded, ridden horses and surfed frequently since childhood.
I also enjoy slightly more relaxed pastime; i love books, coffee, meeting new people and engaging conversations about anything. I also love children and animals of all kinds.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm really not picky about what i like. I'm very eclectic and will listen to any kind of music ranging from classical to heavy metal (and anything and everything in the middle). The same applies to movies and books; it's rare for me to find something i dislike.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
To pick just one amazing thing seems near to impossible; I can barely even pick a "genre" of amazingness, the world is full of unbelievable opportunities.
I think that for now I'll have to say the time I spent in Cinque Terre, Italy. Myself and the friends i was travelling with went to the town of Vernazza which was devastated by flooding and mudslides in 2011. Most of Vernazza's population is ranging from middle aged to elderly farmers whose property was destroyed. While we were there we volunteered to help rebuild part of a local couple's farm. We spent an entire day on top of a huge hill overlooking Cinque Terre and the ocean; rebuilding the dry stone walls that were needed in the vineyard. It was a wonderful experience and it changed me for the better.
