About Me
Grew up on a mountain in the south of Spain, where I still go with friends. Lived in a few places in England, mostly not too far from Cambridge, until heading to the seaside town of Brighton for Sussex University, where I did my degree in Anthropology.
Now I am working freelance as a carpenter for event and design companies, and film and set work, as well as a few festivals each summer.
Otherwise try to keep busy by staying up all night listening to and making music, cooking and eating with friends, brewing tasty drinks, adventuring and learning how to do stuff.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have just moved to Brighton again after a few years back home working, so I might be able to take surfers for the first time soon!
Had a great time surfing myself across the USA and Europe, just never had the space to offer sadly, but soon with any luck.
Interests
Music; scouring for, listening to, mixing and making tunes. Cooking! Smoking the occasional roll-up, hands on activities and creating things, collecting unnecessary stuff, travelling, taking photos (film!), the great outdoors, mooching about town on a sunny day, badmouthing Morrissey...

Music, Movies, and Books
J.J. Cale and John Lee Hooker when bluesy, J.J Grey, Oscar Brown and Sharon Jones, Jon Cleary and The Meters, James Brown and Maceo Parker for a funky getdown... Rock n roll, Creedence and clapton, of course. Nightmares on Wax, Visit Venus and other trip hop extravaganzas, I like Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz series... Old 'golden age' hip-hop and R&B, the 80's delights of Hall & Oats and Talking Heads... american and world folk music, reggae in the sunshine, not much newer music (what happened to pop?) but some organic electronica sounds, fourtet and co. Also no stranger to a bit of house, garage and disco when the time comes to boogie.
Particularly like international and foreign films, and early Ridley Scott movies, and Jim Jarmusch, Coen Bro's and all the other good stuff. Also love 80s and 90s movies, Dazed & Confused, Boogie Nights, Back to the Future, and B-movie goodness, anything with Arnie/Clint/Sly in it. Holiday classics (Great Escape!) too, and undeniable eye openers like 'The Lives of Others'.
Im always open to good book recommendations. Past favourites include Suttree and the Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, David Mitchell, J.G Ballard, Hunter S., Kurt Vonnegut... Happy to read anything a bit fantastical!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We found 5 sacks of party poppers in the bin once and had an intense silver star popper war in a dark room. The most amazing 10 minutes
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a million hobbies, so I am always learning little bits about a lot of things. I know enough about film and cameras to teach basic 35mm photography, and I've got some handy recipes in my brain. I know a bit about digital music production. I like fixing and making so I would be happy to help if you have a project on, especially if it means learning something new or teaching something fun!
