About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a 30 year old well-traveled German who has recently completed my Masters degree of Media, Journalism and Political Science. I've studied and worked in a variety of places during the last years: Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Denmark, UK among others. I like to visit different places, countries and cultures and ideally fully immerse myself in the local culture!

I've worked as journalist, in the internet industry and in the PR & advertising as well as the NGO world. Currently, I am employed at a consultancy based in Berlin dealing with European infrastructure projects (it's pretty boring but if you are reeeeeally interested I can tell you lots about it :D)

I am quite a heavy consumer of media of all kinds, like sports a lot, like to have a good time with friends and am generally a pretty laid back, relaxed and very respectful person.

PHILOSOPHY

I am interested in peoples' stories and believe everyone has an interesting one to tell. What's yours? :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my studies I've hosted several people together with my roommates. This was when I signed up for couchsurfing. Since then I haven't hosted or surfed a lot but every time I did it was great! Let's continue the story? :)

Interests

My interests are very broad, you can talk with me about anything and everything from sports, photography, culture to world politics and the latest crazy all-night long parties :)

Among my more specifics interests are: new media, journalism, photography (analogue and digital SLR), running (longer distances), handball, climbing, skiing, scuba diving, wind-surfing, US culture, politics, technology, economics, music, astronomy, academics etc. etc. really almost everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
I like music a lot. As I have worked for a couple of years at a college radio station, I am also pretty open minded in terms of the genre and style. Mostly I listen to music with electronic influences but as said it's pretty flexible... among others I like: Annie, Anthony Rother, Booka Shade, BoyzNoize, Daft Punk, Imogen Heap, Kavinsky, Kraftwerk, Ladytron, Legowelt, Moby, Northern Lite, Paul Kalkbrenner, Rex the Dog, Simian Mobile Disco, Swayzak, ModeSelektor.
Generally Scandinavian music works pretty well for me... The Knife, Trentemoeller, Royksopp, Darkness Falls, Medina, Robyn, Fallulah, Jori Hulkkonenen etc.
Recently I have also discovered some UK artists I like such as Azealia Banks, Katy B, Little Boots, Marina and the Diamonds... to be continued.

BOOKS:
Let's take a look at my bookshelf: I have sadly not been reading a lot of fiction books over the last years - more like academic stuff for my studies. E.g. I've been wanting to read "Love in the time of Cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez for literally years but never got to it. Some other books that sit in my "yet to read" pile are e.g. "war on words - who should protect journalists", a book about a certain nutritional formula/diet for athletes, "Slam" by Nick Hornby, and a fictional book set during the Algerian war... hope to read some now during my travels.

MOVIES/TV:
Movie-wise I enjoy documentaries a lot. Besides that I like somewhat twisted movies (like e.g. memento) but can also just sit back and relax while watching some easy Hollywood entertainment ;) I'm generally not the biggest TV person but occasionally watch game shows, series or whatever else is on. Primarily I watch live coverage (sports, news) thought.
