About Me

I'm a student in Computer Engineering at the university of Catania (Italy) and I've been studying at the University of Exeter on Eramsus. Computers have been something very interesting to me since I was very young back in 1995.
I started studying them hoping to be able to improve people life, that's probably something hard to achieve but it wouldn't be worth so much effort if not!

In general, I can define myself as a shy and quite person on one hand and a very talkative, easy-going person always looking for new things to experice on the other hand. Listening to people around me has always been something I liked so much: I really think we can learn a lot if ready to listen with an open mind and without prejudices.

In my free time I try to be sporty running and cycling (off road and not): mountain biking became a very important part of my recent life, allowing me to see amazing places around the world and my own country, to meet incredible people and to experience the nature and the world in a new way.
On the orther side I also like relaxing home watching a movie, a soccer match (big fan!) or a tv series. Cinema and tv shows allowed me to learn and improve my english a lot! I really like sci-fi, thriller and spy story, I'm a big fan of Game of Thrones, Prison Break and Breaking Bad, just to quote the most famous but my list is frighteningly long! (': My child-side loves Japanese anime and manga and animation movies in general and I just can't say no to a sleepless night playing board games with friends (Risk is such a beautiful dangerous game!)

PHILOSOPHY

"Don't do tomorrow what you can do today" is probably the thing I repeat myself more when the obstacles seem impossible to handle and it would be so easy just to postpone it. But life is kind of short and it's better to deal with the bad part today, hoping to have more free time tomorrow for what we really like! (:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like a lot those short quotes able to keep so much meaning inside. I really use them alot, writing them on paper or even on the wall to express my own thoughts and feelings. And I'm going to use two of them to say why couchsufing is just an amazing experience of life:

"Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer."
Unknown

"A journey is best measured in friends, not miles."
Tim Cahill

Travelling is for sure the best thing to do in life: you can experience new way to think, live and eat, you can see how amazing is our planet and realise how important is to fight for it. Couchsurfing allows people to travel the world and see each piece of it from the point of view of a local. It allows to help people with your own passion for adventures and discoveries to reach a place they dreamed about for years or months or to go for a quick unplanned adventure in that short free time we have between studies and works.

Interests

Since I already said a lot about what I like while I was talking about me I can just add one thing: protography. I never had enough time to improve my skills but photography is for use one of my favourite hobbies. My camera is always with me when I travel and I really like to take pics around the world. I think it's a very powerful way to show people how we really see the world, our point of view about it and its small details.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to very different kind of music and I always like to discover people taste of music listening to new songs adviced from them. I grew up listening a mix of rock, pop, electronic and classical music. I just love Linkin Park for being able to mix most of the music styles I liked more when I was at school.

I also like a lot the melody of the cello, the violin and the piano and I'm just amazed by people able to use it in a modern musical context.

The best movie in the history? I'm no one to judge but because of my passion for science I like a lot The Matrix and Inception. In general I like action movies, comedies, animation movies, all those Marvel/DC hero movies.
And in general Woody Allen and Tim Burton are just always able to bring something I'm going to like!

I'm really so bad at reading but I don't dislike it. It's just a matter of resolution: I's so bad when I have to read a couple of page each night and the very few times I started a book a liked, I ended up reading all of it without sleeping (':

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Be the witness of the bride in a Indian/Muslim wedding
Be the photographer at the UCI Mountain Biking Wolrd Cup Final

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to cook and even if I'm not a chef, I can teach ho to make few famous italian dishes (lasagna for example) and how to prepare the most famous italian cake (tiramisù).

I'd really like to learn more about cooking since I just love food too much and I'd really like to learn another language: be able to communicate with people from all around the world is such a great thing. I really hope to learn at least one between Chinese, Russian and Japanese but I'd really like to be able to express simple sentences also in Spanish and French.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Ospitality is probably one of the most important values I got from my home-region: Sicily. Despite being famous for other bad things, Sicily is a place wher the guest is respected and treated as family.

And that includes cookies and hot tea/coffee at morning :P
