About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn, Connect, Share, and Grow

ABOUT ME

Do not message me if you don't have 5 references at least. Couchsurfing is not for hookups or temporary housing.

I am a passionate activist for social justice issues. I also care about the environment. I graduated with my Masters in Environmental Science and Policy from Central European University in Hungary. I biked from Albania to Budapest on a 100 Euro bike that I got in Shkoder, Albania. 900 km of biking, plus a little train and ferry travel.

I only host females, gender non-conforming, GLBTQ, and geeks. This is not a hook up site!

I have been to 42 countries.
I enjoy music.
I have a twin sister.
I don't mind roughing it.
I love to travel and study the cultures of the world.
I'm open to trying new things.
I believe we have a responsibility to help and respect each other.
I make a fool of myself way too often.
I really like to learn about people, and share conversations.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be open minded, and I am willing to try new things. I love learning, so I put myself into situations that force me to expand my boundaries and learn quickly. This accelerated learning process comes from challenging myself, oftentimes with travel. It makes me feel alive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

1 thing I am not on couchsurfing for: meeting a romantic partner or hook up. If this is what you want, please don't message me or accept me.

Surfing makes traveling alone more exciting. It always makes me happy to discover a place from a local perspective, seeing things I never would otherwise.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have made some wonderful friends through couchsurfing. I believe in helping people out, and I love the mutual exchange of ideas and stories.

-hitchhiker to join a camping trip for my last night in Tel Aviv.
-Really enjoyed staying with squatters on Detroit and going to an activism meeting.
-stayed 7 days with an awesome host in Athens, and we celebrated the Greek Orthodox Easter.
-visited a great host in Sweden who took me to a really cool anarchist restaurant and book shop.
-Played with my host's son near D.C. He was a super smart 8 year old, and I taught him juggling sticks.
-Feasted on different Swedish candies with my host in Uppsala.

Interests

Trauma intervention (Google TIPNNV), Meet ups, museums, Groupon, taking pics of street art, planning stuff (inc. trips that I may never take), biking, free samples, camping/hiking, human rights, teaching, environmental science, eco-justice, planes, anthropology, sociology, culture, gender studies, glbtq activism, geography, and sustainable living. I am interested in people in general, and how they interact with the world and one another.

Music, Movies, and Books

Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Legally Blonde, 9 to 5, The Lion King, Avatar, etc.

I love almost any music, and practically ever book I've ever read.

How I Met Your Mother, Dexter, Grey's Anatomy, I Love Lucy, Macgyver, Stargate SG-1, Orange is The New Black, M*A*S*H, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, and Desperate Housewives

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched my friends run the Bethlehem Marathon.

Got free grad school in Hungary.

Began a 10,000 mile road trip by driving to Michigan to do activism for children's rights against judicial and domestic abuse. Published an article in The Washington Post.

A sunset from the top of a temple in Bagan, Burma that I watched with my sister and a few photographers from France.

Also, got into a tide accident in Nicaragua and got several sea urchin spikes in my foot.

I believe you see something amazing every day. It's all how you look at it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have some experience teaching Nature Writing, and I am a good editor for English composition. I have some knowledge about the environment and travel planning. I could possibly teach English, or help you if you want to practice.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I'm with my twin sister Hope, she spins fire. I am competent with juggling sticks (sometimes called "Devil Sticks"). I love to connect with people over activism. Also looking for professional contacts. I can share an I owe you because you are welcome to visit me abroad and at home too. I will host you if the opportunity does arise. I can offer some travel advice about places that I have visited. I have a cool music collection on my phone. I can add you to my list of people to send postcards to (which some people enjoy). Maybe I can cook for you? I am eager to share and give what I can.
