About Me

Where to start, where to start? Not that it's so complicated to tell. I'm 25, living in Leipzig, Germany where I work as a social neuroscientist (or occasionally as a tour guide) and enjoy the hipster-capitols atmosphere of theater, movies and long evenings by the lake- as well as a passion for "netflix and chill". Only not right now. Right now, I'm actually doing non of the above. Instead, I'm taking some time off, to see what it feels like to wake up in a different hotel bed every week. Turns out it feels pretty nice. Me and my husband have thus far travelled Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Singapore all of which were wonderful (though in very different ways). My husband, that is Nissen, is from Mauritius and into everything that contains constructing or programming. He's really nice as a house guest because he's good at fixing things and computers (just saying). The both of us now have another two months left, before we get back to Germany, where I'll start my PhD and we'll continue to do all of the above. Untill then, we hope to make some more great experiences, maybe meeting some of you guys.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing gave me to great stays in Canada of which I wouldn't want to miss any minute! In addition I have occupied many peoples guestrooms/ tents/ wherever you can sleep on... on exchanges with Turkey, the USA, the Netherlands and Italy . I really like to get in contact with people when travelling, so all of these where some of my greatest experiences.

Interests

Not very surprisingly, I really enjoy travelling. And there's several things I like about it First, I like taking way too many pictures (like in waaay too many), including only very little selfies, but a lot of pictures of humans we've met on the way. I like humans. I like talking to them, to learn how they live, what their stories are and what they can teach me. It's part of why I study, what I study. If there's no humans around, apes are fine too. I'm pretty interested in them and one of the reasons we went to Malaysia was to see some . We did. Somewhat. It was rather blurry. I took a picture anyway. The main reason I like to take pictures is that it's a creative way to experience your environment If there's no camera around, I like to draw (Humans. Surprise.) or to write, which kind of works according to the same principles.

On the way, I usually check my phone several times a day, for the latest news. I'm interested in politics, and like to know what's going on in the world. Lately especially the refugee situation in Germany has been keeping me up.

Music, Movies, and Books

In my books and other media, I'm usually looking for two things- the feeling that the author truly cares for his characters as well as an ironic tone. My favourites are Douglas Adams (last chance to see is the best travel literature) and Terry Pratchett. My favourite films are wag the dog, pride, "up", walter mitty and a whole bunch of films I'm going to remember after closing this window. Though currently I'm mainly watching tv-shows, including the newsroom, silicon vally and downton abbey. Besides, I like political satire, mainly John Oliver and the daily show.
As concerns music, I usually like all artists who need more than one genre to express themselves. Mozuluart are nice, seeed, die toten hosen, monsters and men...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess what amazed me most, lately where the contrasts we've seen. In one week, we've traveled from the depth of the rainforest to the skyscrapers in Singapore, where we happened o run into a festival in the gardens by the lake with their huge iron, flowery trees and lights and fireworks. I felt pretty overwhelmed that day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always trying to hear and collect strange facts and anecdots to share with others, so the main thing to learn from me, is probably a bunch of interesting-facts that are still completely useless. Besides, I'm good at drawing and I'd be happy to share that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Long discussions, stories, insights... whatever comes up. I'm open to pretty much anything, but in doubt, I'm also good at keeping myself busy and don't need constant entertainment. So I'd say: Whatever fits.
