Overview
About Me
I recently moved to England to start a PhD and my research focuses on nuclear disarmament activism.
Before coming to the UK, I spent two years in San Diego, California, studying a Master's degree in Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego (August 2021 - May 2023). I now live in West Sussex with my partner, Alice, who works as a creative writer/editor.
I love reading daily, and am particularly prone to nonfiction works in style of Steven Pinker, bell hooks, Malcolm Gladwell, Adam Grant, Sam Harris, etc. I also love reading Philosophy and ethics. I drink coffee daily, play my guitar, dance (swing-salsa-bachata), cook at home, and I recently have a garden at home (currently: onions, chard, mint, tomatoes and marigolds).
I also like going out for long walks and I try to run daily in the mornings (let me know if you'd like to share a run). I particularly enjoy biking too. I consider myself friendly and passionate, and constantly find myself looking for new skills or things to learn. Most of all, I enjoy meeting new people and feeling able to help others.
Note: I am a Covid-19 double-vaccinated + booster.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In 2016, I studied abroad at the University of New Mexico. There I met someone who introduced me to this beautiful community. I fell in love with the idea of sharing your house and city with fellow travelers, strangers and people from all over the world. I have made very good friends in CS and can't wait to go back to Mexico and host more people. It's important to give back and I have only been able to host for a tiny bit.
I am in Couchsurfing to share, learn, teach, enjoy and belong to a global community of kind and friendly people. Thanks to all the beautiful souls who have hosted me in United States, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. I was drawn to CS because of people like you!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I rode over half of South Korea on a bicycle from Daegu to Busan.
I volunteered in Thailand.
I published an article in a UN magazine
I co-founded a podcast in Spotify! ("Is the world on fire?")
I just wrote a book (2019-2020, but have not published it).
And I have traveled to at least 30 US cities.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot of local, Mexican and Latino history, politics and society. I studied music, so I can teach how to play guitar. I have also learned how to finger spell in American Sign Language, I can teach Spanish. I can teach you how to read in Korean alphabet. I would be very happy to teach you to dance (salsa/swing/bachata). There is so much to teach, learn or share that it wouldn't fit here!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am more than happy to share a good time, whatever that looks like for the needs of my host. In past travels I have shared a meal on a restaurant, cooking together, walking in the city, biking, helping out with a repair/project at home, playing music together, watching a movie, or simply being there to give some company. I am sure there is lots of things we could share!
