Overview
About Me
Hi ! My name is William and I'm an English teacher, but that's a coincidence, my parents just liked William better than Guillaume...
So here I am, teaching English near Versailles, and at the back of my classroom, there's this HUGE map of the USA taunting me every single day. So I just need to travel and see what are the treasures in this map.
I've studied English for 5 years and have always been fascinated by the USA, so my first experience as a couchsurfer happened there, and gave me a lot of good memories !
I love writing, I write about a bunch of different stuff : some non fiction about my job on a French news website, but also fiction that should be published very soon, I'm so excited !
From July 9th to August 9th, I'll be travelling in the USA, mostly in California, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado, here's a map of the road I intend to follow : https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CIXLuCoXAAAACMn.jpg
I love English, I love my job, I love the USA, and travelling, is, in a way, putting these 3 passions together, how great is that ?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I had my first couchsurfing experience in DC, which was absolutely great, and met with someone in Philadelphia who couldn't host me but nonetheless showed me around : that's how you truly discover a city ! After that, I've couchsurfed to Chicago and in Scotland too !
I also went to several CS events in New York and met awesome people there, it's great to meet locals when you're travelling : this way, you don't follow the path laid by a tourist map, you get a real feel of where you are.
I have a small flat with an available couch in Versailles, near the castle, and would be happy to host travellers !

Music, Movies, and Books
I have studied English/American litterature for 5 years, and I fell in love with Paul Auster, Luke Rhinehart, Mark Z. Danielewski on whom I wrote a 60 pages dissertation pedantically entitled "Chance or the quest for meaning in Postmodern Litterature"
So far, there's only three people who have read it : me, my teacher and the teacher who had to give it a mark.
During my University years I have read quite a lot, from Asimov to Steinbeck, with a touch of John Irving, Shakespeare, John Kennedy TooleWilliam Blake...
I also love French Litterature ( Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Edouard Levé, Victor Hugo, Jacques Prévert, the list could go on and on ! )
Movies : Scorcese, Woody Allen, Sam Mendes, Kubrick, Truffaut, Godard, Danny Boyle...
Books : PAUL AUSTER. Mark Z. Danielewski, Luke Rhinehart, Albert Camus, Jean Paul Sartre, Georges Pérec, Jonathan Safran Froer, Don DeLillo...
I do love American and English music though, recently I discovered Regina Spektor and Edward Sharpe, just loving it ! I also love Radiohead, Múm, Grandaddy, Agnes Obel and classical music ( from Beethoven to Ludovico Einaudi or Philip Glass ).
By the way, I can't express my love for the soundtrack of The Tree of Life. Perfect.
Movies ? Outch, the list could be very long. I'll just tell you my favorite directors : Woody Allen, Martin Scorcese, Stanley Kubrick, Terry Gilliam, Danny Boyle, David Fincher, Wes Anderson... etc. I'm a huge cinéphile.
But of course I also love French Cinéma : Truffaut, Godard, Jeunet, Audiard...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed the Ben Nevis in Scotland, thinking it was just a hill... it happened to be the highest mountain of the United Kingdom !
Teach, Learn, Share
I guess, since it's my job, I could teach you some English... oh wait. Well, some French then !
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a big fan of French music. I love artists such as Brassens, Brel, Reggiani, Le Forestier, etc. and sharing this love is always a pure joy to me :)
I have also lived in several parts of France (Pays Basque / Montpellier / Bretagne / Paris) and can be of help if you plan a trip to these places.
