About Me

kimmi (that's me!) is in bangkok til september ! she’s interning for a pretty awesome org, then she’ll finish her masters in the USA. speaking of which, she grew up in the states but started traveling as soon as she could. her love for the world, its people, and their cultures eventually led her to commit to a life of international discovery. although a boston girl at heart, kimmi's practically a nomad, spending (almost) too much of her time traveling or researching her next destination. she loves planning spontaneous trips to the amazon, food connoisseur-ing, Sudoku puzzle solving, cooking, and baking. her focus is in international development and economics.

---

important to know about me:

i’ve spent the last few years of my life devoted to women’s empowerment via income generation and girl’s education rights and promotion. i hope to continue to work, learn, and contribute in this space in the future.

i am very much so an (intersectional) feminist. you should be too.

--
also, i am very, very allergic to cats. so, if you have a cat in your home and it's not listed, please let me know. i love cats, but being around them makes it quite hard to breathe, so just looking out for my lungs here. no offense to the cute kitties. <3
AND. i'm also very, very sensitive to cigarette smoke -- have been ever since i was a child. i get really bad migraines when i'm around cigarette smoke or in a room that's had smoking indoors. it's your choice if you want to smoke cigarettes (no judgment, promise!), but i do ask that keep this in mind if you're offering to host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

to meet cool people! all about discovering new food places (:

as i am working full time, i can’t guarantee i’ll always have time to meet up, but I will certainly try. please don't take this personally. i've had a couple of people get mad at me for not meeting up, and it's not a very nice feeling to be expected to hang out with someone even when you've clearly shared that you're squeezed for time.

i also can’t host right now as I live in a very small space, but hope to meet you and share thoughts and ideas somehow!

anyway, i've surfed around europe and parts of africa, hosted in boston (usa) and namibia, and have had great experiences so far, would love to help if i can!

Interests

i don't have too many interests, but i have entirely too many to describe, so i perhaps will come back to this section in the future.

or we shall discuss and chat about said and/or unsaid interests over wine or tea (:

Music, Movies, and Books

Le Petit Prince
The Giving Tree
When Breath Becomes Air
Blink
Man's Search for Meaning
Love in the Time of Cholera
The Giver
Fahrenheit 451
First They Killed My Father Me Before You ..

too many to name, but the above are some of the most poignant (and well-known) books on my list of beloved texts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

went to the amazon by myself. no plan, no itinerary, no reservations (:
- fish for piranha with raw chicken
- did ayahuasca with a local family in a peruvian village (not knowing what it was)
- ‘swam’ with pink dolphins
- and by swim, i mean i held on to the side of the boat while they swam around me that said,

if you can successfully teach me to swim/tread water, i'll be indebted to you forever.

trust me. many have tried.

Teach, Learn, Share

i teach curiosity. also, empathy, i hope.

but more tangibly, how women's equality and empowerment can positively impact economic and social growth, and even curb climate change in the long-run! (:

i also make a mean braised pork belly and thai green curry. and a v stiff gin and tonic.
