About Me

This is my story and I hope that people read this before they host me or I host them.

I am a born and raised kiwi in New Zealand. My aim is to meet people and spread my stories and love with anyone that I cross paths with.

I am very upset to say that my home is being renovated at the moment and I am unable to have surfers staying.
All though I am new to couchsurfing, I feel that it is important to share what one has to help the community around them. I love to experience what another person can give and I aim to give as much as I can even if that is only a small amount at the time.

I have a huge passion for art and anything that ties in to art. My grandmother was an art teacher and practised in fine arts. I however work with digital media and love photography. I often take my time before I look back over my photos because I feel that i'm less critical and more appreciative of the work I have made when I have given myself time to remove myself from that environment in which I took the photo.

I love to cook even though some days provide better food than others. I recently became a vegetarian due to some upsetting events. I am not one to push this on others but I expect that others are respectful of my beliefs.

I have two older brothers and hold my family and friends close to my heart. We are all very individual and have our pros and our cons but are close nonetheless. My dad is a psychologist and has heavily influenced my choice in studies at the university of auckland. I aim to use this psychology degree for refuge work in 3rd world countries when I graduate. I am torn between joining the New Zealand Navy with my degree to help with disasters because of my deep disagreement with the need for war. I am seeking other ways of helping without having to join the military.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to learn from and help other people. I do my best to understand others and better myself based on what they show me.

I haven't travelled to many places in this world but I have loved as much of my home country as I have been able to and I want to experience the cultures and people of other countries now. I feel that my ideologies and beliefs have a long way to go and I would be humbled to share in the experiences with other people that may share or differ in ideas from me. I wish to understand the different ways of living around the world and experience what it means to be from a different town, city or country.

I am often travelling with little more than a backpack and a camera but I will provide as much as I can. I will offer photos and food as well as the possibility of Pounamu if I have some.

I expect to have a conversation with my host or surfers prior to them coming, I like to know who they are and what they believe in before we meet. I'm not here to share in a one time interaction or a free stay. I would always love to stay and experience as much as I can with hosts when I am travelling but sometimes constrictions do not allow for this, I do not like to invade on other people's lives and for this reason, I tend to ask for short amounts of times at each location I am in. As my profile develops and I am able to share my energies as a host, I will feel more comfortable asking for places to stay but for now I ask for little so that I do not intrude on people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a firm belief in all music that makes a person feel something. My music taste varies day by day but revolves around jazz, hip hop and drum & bass. I am open to people showing me new music and I am always excited to hear new cultural music that makes a person feel at home or ties them to their childhood/family.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am young and feel that I have a lot of growing to do. I feel that the amazing things that I have done pale in comparison with the people that surround me but I like to think that my influence has helped many people to achieve outstanding achievements. I regard my generosity as my highest achievement, I love to start new hobbies and this often results in the people close to me acquiring thoughtful handmade crafts and art.

With my stories, my hosts and surfers can decide what they regard as my highest achievement.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wish to teach about my culture and share my experiences. I understand that many do not know the history of New Zealand and the struggles that we have faced. I want people to understand who we are as a nation and why we are such kind and thoughtful people.

I hope that the people I meet also share a deep bond with their heritage and their people. I want to learn about why they love their country or don't for whatever the reason may be.

I don't feel like one can ever experience or learn too much and as I travel I will add to this list but for now I feel that cultural education is extremely important to me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to help in whatever way I can, My mother always taught me that the smallest gestures can make the largest impacts. I am happy to help with cooking or providing help with cleaning. I never ask for much but I am happy to provide a lot.
