About Me

Hi there! My name is Gaby and I'm a 28 yo girl from the Mexican Caribbean region :) I am a very friendly, responsible, adaptable and easy-going person. Right now I am doing my second long trip to Europe, where I intend to get to know many beautiful places and possibly make some lifelong friendships on the way ;)

In 2016 I quitted my job as an English teacher to start my travelling adventures. It started with what was supposed to be a short trip to Canada that turned into 4 months abroad and then I just couldn't stop :)
Recently I've been working in Italy as an au pair with a beautiful family, and as a park guide at one of Mexico's most popular eco touristic parks.

Fluent in Spanish and English, with some medium French and basic German. I understand Italian if you speak slow to me :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: from acoustic to metal, from rock to kirtan, from electronic to reggaeton, from classical to indie pop.. I pretty much listen to everything. Currently listening to: L'imperatrice, euro pop, lots of indie.

Movies: sci-fi, historical biographies, documentaries, romance and independant films. I will fall for anything that is well directed, with beautiful photography and an interesting backstory. Currently watching: tons of videos about Data Science! Last series I watched: Stranger Things 3. Last movie: The Shape of Voice.

As of books, sci-fi and classical novels have a place in my heart, but nowadays I read a lot on yoga, meditation and self-growth. Currently reading: Books about eco yoga and meditation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing the Iztaccíhuatl and the Nevado de Toluca (3rd and 5th highest mountains in Mexico)
Swimming at the coral reefs and around beaches full of starfish at the Mayan Riviera.
Swimming with sharks, stingrays, dolphins and manatees!
Always going against all odds :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching English and Spanish. I'm also in a constant search for learning languages.
I am passionate about holistic health and ayurveda.
Since I've been a tourist guide, I can share a lot about Mexican culture and perhaphs helping you plan your next holidays to Mexico! ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mexican culture, Spanish/English conversational practice, food and/or how to cook some delicious Mexican or healthy dishes, a nice talk, my own experience in life.

As a guest, it is very important for me to make my hosts feel comfortable, so dialogue and adaptation are two things I am very open to do. I can share a lot of time with you or just go exploring the city on my own, I will feel very comfortable either way. However, I will be very grateful if you can provide me with any advice and recommendations about your city and how to move around :)
