About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Change the things described below, and switch from college life to becoming a commercial pilot. I'll have to give this a thorough update sometime....

ABOUT ME

It's funny how it says "all" about you. There's so much, I doubt anyone wants to read. The basics are, I was born and raised in Bremen, Germany where I also got my BS in Digital Media. Moved on to Australia where I wanted to get a degree in Film. Didn't like the continent and people (sorry) so I finished with a GradCert of Fine Art in Screen Production. Moved on to Missouri for my MA in Mass Comm and then started working as a college prof in Florida. In between all of that I was able to meet many people, see some places and do a lot of random things.
Now I'm back in the Kansas City area working in Lawrence, KS on my PhD in Journallism and Mass Communication.

PHILOSOPHY

Actually, thinking about it I would say "Fish out of water". As a German its very difficult to adjust to some Americanisms and many people don't get me. That makes it hard to make new friends...:/

- Live an let live
- Do to others as you'd want to be done to yourself
- Yesterday is history, tomorow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why it is called the present :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am off-and-on with this site. I try to participate with the local CS people in random activities but sometimes I just totally forget about it for a year until I remember. I've had some interesting experiences with this site, sadly a lot of negativity. So the way I participate is to be the best host or couchsurfer you could ever run into, so that if you have similar experiences, this will keep you going (just like some of the people I met keep me going - experience)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, I have been to many places and spontaniously stayed various locations. Mostly because I was lucky or knew someone.

The 2 times I tried using CS i got really dissapointed (due to either no reply or gibberish) so I hope that will change with my 3rd try....

->Yes, three times is the charm, and it worked. Thanks for that Soozie...
->Yes, number four worked out as well. Thanks Richard...
-> Yes, number 5 worked again :)
-> Nope, denied...probably because I'm not a pretty girl :)
-> Currently looking for a couch in Minneapolis

Interests

I like nearly everything that has to do with sports, music or movies. I don't have a special interest. That makes it so hard to know what I want to do in life -...- but maybe that's a calling, too :)
I do enjoy water sports, beach sports, anything that's fun. I'm a Divemaster so I do enjoy Scuba diving especially Dragon Fish hunting :)I have a pilots license but no plane (I'm working on it though).

Music, Movies, and Books

Thanks to my job I read a lot of educational books and I don't feel like reading much "for me" anymore. Every now and then thought I sneak in a book thanks to long evenings in a tent and the illuminated kindle.
I enjoy most types of music and movies. I'm into short film and like to make them myself or teach my students how to produce one. We actually made a short that was selected for 2 festivals and won an audience award. Proud of those kids :)
I'm not into techno or foul language/degrading (rap/RNB) style music

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sadly, I am not easily amazed, and I'm not sure why, maybe because I've done alot already...Diving with a Shark? So what...jumping out of an Airplane...yeah...interesting but not THAT memorable...

visited 41 states, 30 countries, 5 continents....and counting :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach/Share: I just moved to this region so there isn't too much I can tell you about, but I'd be more than willing to share any information I have about other places I visited and things I've seen ...

I teach communications, so if you want to know more about Cinema/movie making - camera work etc. or some theories and maybe a little bit about photography, then I'm all yours :)

I'd like to learn Everything about anything anywhere :o)

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Germany, United States
