Overview
About Me
I’m an introvert who enjoys lively conversation as well as quiet, a lover of coffee, wine, sunrise, good books, and long runs.
Since graduating from Knox College in 2012, I helped start and managed the Midwest community supported fishery component of a sustainable seafood company called Sitka Salmon Shares in Galesburg, Illinois. I’m now working in Sitka, Alaska. Through this work, I’ve learned a great deal about many facets of both business and our food system. And there is so much more I’d like to know.
I'm a writer who dreams of traveling the world, at a pace slow enough to get to know a place, on foot as much as possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe that the type of non-monetary exchange the Couchsurfing community facilitates is inspiring. I also love to travel, and it would be nice to have a place to crash somewhere down the road.
I've participated in WWOOF, a similar trust-based exchange program in which one works on organic farms in exchange for room and board. WWOOFing in Ireland during college and in California and Washington in the summer of 2015, I’ve found the program to be a wonderful way to acquire new skills, experience other landscape, push my comfort zones, and share what I can offer along the way. I've met so many incredible people during those journies and, because of these connections, been able to experience my destinations on a much deeper level than had I merely passed through on my own. I'm interested in doing similar through Couchsurfing in the future on shorter-term travels, and - once I have a place of my own to host - offer my hopsitality to others.
