About Me

Hi! I am a UCLA student majoring in English. I love meeting new people.

Caught the travel bug last summer when I backpacked solo through Mexico for two months, then hiked Scotland's 96-mile West Highland Way and visited Glasgow, Edinburgh, and St. Andrews. It's a privilege to be able to attend my university in Los Angeles, but right now I want to travel. So I am taking the spring term off of school to visit parts of Asia and then live and work in Australia!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I traveled through Mexico and Scotland, CS brought me the most interesting experiences and genuine new friends ever! CS adds an entirely new dimension to traveling. Staying with a local means having really cool conversations with someone who is knowledgeable about their hometown and can teach you so much more than a guidebook. Plus, you get to give something to them too; even if it's as little as bringing them a chocolate bar or something, it always feels great to participate in cultural exchange.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite authors are Zadie Smith and David Sedaris, both of whom I have met. My favorite movies are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Short Term 12. I love all sorts of music, from Lauryn Hill to Kevin Abstract.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lots of hitchhiking in Mexico! Got picked up by a car in the Yucatán where the mother (in the driver's seat) immediately handed me her crying toddler as soon as I got in the car. Luckily, I was able to calm the little girl down and the mother and I had a really pleasant drive to our destination after that!

Hitchhiked from the mountain town of Sagada to Manila during Holy Week in the Philippines. Made the journey in under twenty four hours, even though there was tons of traffic.

Took a container ship from Hong Kong to Singapore. Had lots of fun getting to know the half Romanian/half Filipino crew and learn about how the ship worked.

Teach, Learn, Share

UNFORTUNATELY I AM TRAVELING FOR NINE MONTHS SO WILL NOT BE IN USA UNTIL JANUARY 2020, SO SO SORRY :(

Learn:
I want to learn about thru hiking and wilderness safety. I loved hiking in Scotland and want to work my way up to longer and more challenging routes such as the Pacific Crest Trail or Patagonia's Torres del Paine loops one day. If you are an avid hiker or mountaineer, let me know! Let's plan a trip!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a great listener and very curious about other people's lives. I can also perform any sort of work you need. I have extensive experience working in both a Michelin-starred restaurant and multiple cafés, and I'm also pretty physically fit, so I can do manual labor too. If you have kids, I am a great babysitter!
