About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Helping people to understand and take action on climate change

ABOUT ME

I am a proud father, love living in mid Wales, love my work. I work, write and talk widely about climate change for a small charity I founded. After 25 years of working on global environment and social rights issues I have friends around the world. I have also travelled far and wide including a chunk of time spent in Papua New Guinea saving rainforests.

PHILOSOPHY

I care very much about environmental issues and try to have a low impact myself. But I am not judgmental and have my own quirks, like to eat anything, have fun, the odd cigarette. So I am always up for meeting new people and it is a rare train or bus trip when I don't find myself chatting with someone and learning something new.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I often travel for my work but LOATHE the whole lonely antiseptic side of staying in hotels. I have always traveled rough, done a lot of backpacking and all I need is a couch or even a bit of floor. I always stay with friends if I can, but sometimes i am in a place where I don't already know people, so I would always prefer to stay somewhere and meet new people.

None at all- I am new to this, but keen to participate, host people and, hopefully have places I can stay.

Interests

I have many, too many enthusiasms and collections (architecture, art, music- esp vintage jazz, food, comics. film - I am working through my collection of the worlds 1000 best films and of course the environment)
I also like meeting new people and learning about them- especially people who are nothing like me because that is how you really find something new and interesting ! I can listen and join in too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My work in remote pats of tropical rainforest working with indigenous peoples to stop logging and mining companies invading their lands- in Papua New Guinea, Borneo and Belize.

Teach, Learn, Share

Anything about climate change, rainforests, any of my interests and passions. I often give workshops on my work and my various interests so always happy to talk, (but only if asked- I don't want to lecture people).
