About Me

Hello! My name is Gisela and I'm currently a junior journalism major in downstate New York. Music and writing are my 2 biggest passions and they consume my life. I write and edit for my school newspaper and the humor magazine, and I book house shows in my girlfriend's garage. Woo!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend, Brenna, mentioned the site in a blog she wrote about backpacking through Canada, and it intrigued me. I love traveling, but as a student, money's always tight, so the more I can save on things like accommodations the better! Plus, I'd love to meet other wandering souls.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: pretty much everything, no joke. I'm primarily making this so I can try and find a place to crash overnight after a Mountain Goats show; other artists I love include Weezer, the Beach Boys, Mitski, Jeff Rosenstock, Brockhampton, Lady Gaga, and more.

Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ex Machina (and also most anything that A24 puts out), most Ghibli films (I loooove Howl's Moving Castle), your basic Disney stuff, etc. etc.

Books: unfortunately I don't read books as often as I should, but recently I've really enjoyed The Secret History by Donna Tartt, The Stranger by Alfred Camus, The Metamorphosis and Other Stories by Franz Kafka... yeah.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I co-directed and co-produced my school's production of the Vagina Monologues in 2018, which raised over $1,800 for the Audre Lorde Project!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, I can do dishes and other tidying tasks, I can jam (I play guitar, ukulele, piano, and bass), I can write you something, I can take photos of you, your loved ones, your pets, or anything really, I can book you a show if you ever feel like coming to Long Island and playing music in a garage
