ABOUT ME
Since I'm on CS, let's start with the obvious...I like to travel! I'm doing my Ph.D. in Frankfurt and this is great 'cause I have the possibility to travel around the world for conferences and schools!
What I really like is to spend hours walking around cities I never saw and in particular without a goal, in order to discover always something unexpected!
My Ph.D. is in Theoretical Physics and now I'm studying a particular kind of stars...yes, I know that maybe is completely useless, but it's very nice and btw I think that if you always do research in candles, you'll never discover a light bulb (cit.) Some people said me I'm crazy, and I did not get yet if it is due to the fact that I'm a physicist or 'cause I'm actually crazy...
What else? I talk in an onomatopoeic way [which is also natural to me because of my voice that is a bit nasal]
I always like to know new people, in particular with totally different cultures, to exchange as many things as possible, language, philosophy, religion, cuisine, games, jokes and so on.
Now, if you send a CouchRequest, just to see if you had a look to my profile, it would be nice if you write at least my name, Giu, and not just "hey" or "hello"...to make it more personal ;)
PHILOSOPHY
The law I impose to myself is that I'm free to do whatever I want, without limiting others' freedom. That's all.
Btw, here some of my favorite citations :)
People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.
Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it
People don't take trips, trips take people
La più alta forma di beatitudine è vivere con un pizzico di follia
L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux
No amount of research into candles will give you a light bulb
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I started some years ago helping a friend of mine who is a CSer since more than 3yrs. Then, I came here in Frankfurt and I started my own CS experience. Here, I never hosted yet, but I think I'm quite active in the Frankfurt group, by organizing some events and helping people coming in our city with infos and fun!
Interests
Firstly, I really like music...but only the good one! I mean all the music which has a deep meaning, which is made by good musicians or songs writers. I started my "musical life" with rock and metal, when I was pretty young :D Then, I started to appreciate blues, jazz, funky, crossover, progressive, classical and many other genres
I like also playing [i used to play the guitar for 7yrs, I tried also with flute and, more recently, electric violin], reading [in particular essays and fantasy], movies [as for the music, they shouldn't be made only to be sold...however first of all: V for Vendetta, A Clockwork Orange, He died with a felafel in his hand, and in particular cult or weird movies], travelling [when i have money enough...or when the university pays for me :D]
Now one of my goals is to understand the phase diagram of QCD and what the hell there's inside a compact star...but I'm not a nerd :)
