About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To infect my boys with a wanderlust that can never be cured!!

ABOUT ME

I'm a single father to 2 great young men. Isaiah 19 & Jr 16. They are the reason my heart beats. Take a look at my mission statement if you haven't already. I wish I was able to travel and explore the world when I was their ages, but I didn't have experiences like that. I'm about breaking cycles, I can't always take them out into the world, with CS I can sometimes bring the world to them.

I grew up in New York city, Queens, 5 minutes away from
JFK airport. I lived there for most of my life until a year after 9/11, which happened to coincide with my divorce. We then moved to Houston TX, where I still have a home and family in the area. I bought my dream house in Houston, but I woke up one morning and moved to Denver CO, where I didn't know a soul. There's more to the story, so ask if we ever meet in person.

I loved Denver, no dream house there,
but all things must come to an end. As of August 2016 we have officially left the states. We lived outside of Bogota Colombia for 6 months in a little town where we were almost the only English speakers. Jr went to a local school, and his Spanish is pretty good. Quito Ecuador has been a 2 months stop before our final destination, Jamaica!

My father is from St Mary Jamaica. When he passed away 14 years ago, he left me his house there. A beautiful home about a mile from the water and in a great quiet neighborhood. I spend as much time as I can down there, right now that's permanent.
Planning on opening a couple businesses.

Our journey around the world in 2013 and 2014, it would not have been possible if it wasn't for Couchsurfing! You can check out some of our adventures by looking on our blog. Please reach out if you are in the Ocho Rios area in Jamaica. We would love to meet and or host you.

PHILOSOPHY

HALO'S HYMNS for HAPPINESS

1 Search out Happiness. It's looking for you too!

2 Transform someones life. Start with your own.

3 Look to connect with people. Eliminate strangers campaign.

4 When God winks, wink back (there are no accidents)

5 Be a superhero, fight FEAR(fALSE eXPECTATION aPPEARING rEAL)

6 Pour your passion, let it flow.

7 Thoughts become actions. Speak life to what you want

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn't change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn't change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world. ~Author Unknown

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel quite a bit! Surfing with me last minute doesn't usually work. You can try but it's best if I have a couple weeks notice at least.

I have surfed couches internationally and hosted at my homes in Denver and Jamaica.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had nothing but positive experiences so far, both in Denver and Boscobel. (Thank God)

Teach, Learn, Share

We all have the power to make a difference in the life of another human being!

From my blog JourneywiththeJobsons.com:
I’ve come to the realization that through discourse with others we could eliminate a good deal of the mistrust and misgivings we have for people. We could find some common ground. It’s there; we just have to look for it. This is what I want for my sons, I want them to be confident young men who are looking for the commonalities that they have with people, and not the differences. Seeing what’s different is easy, it takes no work to see what’s different. I want them to be masters at the art of conversation. Isaiah and Jr are learning that you don’t have to agree with everyone when it comes to opinions or ideology, but making sure that you and others are heard and understood is what’s most important.
