About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"Make voyages! Attempt them -- there's nothing else..." --Tennesse Williams

ABOUT ME

I spent my 20s as a nomadic woodswoman, taking seasonal work leading backpacking trips and doing conservation work all over the country. My jobs have taken me to Vermont, Arizona, North Carolina, Minnesota, Maine, Utah, and California. These days I've settled down a bit in Worcester, VT, where I am living a 72-square-foot tiny house and running my own wilderness trip business: www.mountainsongexpeditions.com.

PHILOSOPHY

"Go where the way opens."
~Quaker Maxim

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Appalachian Trail in 105 days (summer 2009).
I took a Mounted Archery training and learned to shoot arrows from horseback.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can start a fire with a bow drill, fell trees, sharpen and ax, carve a wooden spoon, shoot arrows from horseback, build trails, garden, howl like a wolf, sew, and knit. And then there's all the camping skills: map & compass navigation, outdoor cooking, tarp shelters, canoe strokes, knots, first aid, and other wilderness travel skills. I'm a former EMT.

I would love to learn to sail. I'm also interested in learning Italian (I studied it in college but am very rusty) or Spanish, bicycle maintenance, and natural building construction.

Countries I’ve Visited

Greece, Italy, Tanzania

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom, United States
