About Me

I am Henning. I love to travel and visit places and for the most part I like to do this idependently from the touristic business and off the beaten track. For I am a student, I am lucky enough to have a lot of time for travels these days. I am always in for new experiences and spontaneous/dumb ideas, that turn out to be the best moments in your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing gives me the opportunity to travel off the beaten track and meet other people. During the travels I made so far, I learned that the best way to discover new places, is to team up with locals and to just take the plunge. On top it enables me to travel on a low budget, which is always good for students like me. ;)

Interests

  • badminton
  • geocaching
  • coin collecting

Music, Movies, and Books

I am probably the only person on earth without a taste for music. Usually every music someone blasts is quite fine for me and I'll probably not dislike it . For movies I am absolutely in for Star Wars, this can not be watched too often. When it comes to TV-series I am a GoT fanboy which also relates to my favorite kind of books, that can be found in the fantasy genre, e.g. the work of Trudi Canavan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camping at the rim of an old volcano was definitively amazing. But I am sure there are a lot more amazing things to discover out there, yet to come!

Teach, Learn, Share

Whoever wants to hear it, I can teach about biochemistry, but I made some experiences that clearly tell, that the average person can not share my enthusiasm about it. But I gonna try ;)
Apart from that I am always happy to show people the amusements of geocaching (see "What I can share" as well).
I am always happy to practise some french, although it has become very rusty recently. Otherwise I am happy to learn about the place I am staying and about the people hosting me, because that is why I am travelling.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Since I am not much of a cook, I don't dare to offer my cooking skills to a host, although this is a quite popular thing to do. Nevertheless I can probably contribute to the meeting and enrich the hosts experience the most with my hobby of geocaching, which is a GPS-based treasure hunt. It can be played everywhere and let you see the place you live in with new eyes. I still discover new places and stories through geocaching in my hometown after years of living there.
