Why I'm on Couchsurfing

We're a recently married couple from Brazil here in Calgary to apply to colleges. We've been staying (as paying guests) at my brother's but his landlord had a sudden chance of heart and we'll have to get out in a couple of weeks.

Lord of the Rings, Dracula, A Song of Ice and Fire (game of thrones' books), The Jungle Book, Call of the Wild (amongst the books in english) Fernando Pessoa, Clarisse Linspector, Alvares de Azevedo (portuguese language writers) Tarantino, Scorcese, Kurosawa, Almodóvar, Hitchcock and José Padilha (some of our favourite directors, but we do love ourselves a blockbuster - like: we're seriously hooked on the Marvel movies)

One Amazing Thing I've Done

She's worked with children with moderate to sever psychiatric disorders her entire adult life, so to my eyes pretty much every day of her ork for the past 10 years has been amazing. He's seen a great deal. Worked in the environmental area and wildlife care for a long time, as well as teaching. He's bottle-fed baby elephants and tigers, rescued sankes, had close-encounters with more than a few wild animals and has tons of stories to share.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach: Portuguese and English (Henrique was actually a ESL teacher for some time and he has a lot of experience) Ballroom dancing, specially brazilian stiles (we met at his dance classes, and we simply love teaching people how to dance) Karate and Self-defense (he's a black belt, he's practiced since he was 7 and is a certified self defense instructor) Cooking (seriusly, she can cook. let me just say I was a lot thinner before we got together)

My Interests

We dance. A lot. We were dance instructors back home (mostly brazillian rythms) and we'd love to share the knowledge and get the dancing bugs to bite everyone around us. We also like vintage stuff, sci-fi, fantasy books (big Tolkien and Martin fans).
