Overview
About Me
I'm a world traveler (25+ countries), athlete (skiing, tennis, beach volleyball, and I compete professionally in international 'beach tennis' tournaments), big-time foodie / chef, musician (play acoustic guitar, sing, including occasional 'open mic' nights at local clubs), art lover (including some side work as a corporate art curator), photographer, Burning Man attendee (everyone should go at least once ; ) and explorer (I'm still finding new fun spots in Los Angeles after 15+ years here...). I'm also a very gracious host, and house guest, and I really enjoy meeting new people from around the world !
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting interesting new people ! I'm also very lucky to live just 5 houses from the beach, and just 2 blocks from downtown, in what many (including me : ) feel is the very best beach town in the entire U.S. - Manhattan Beach ! I enjoy meeting and getting to know other world travelers like me and helping them experience and enjoy this very special place as much as I do. And, as I continue my own world travels, I look forward to meeting and getting to know other Couchsurfers and experiencing their own special cities and favorite attractions !

Music, Movies, and Books
I have extremely broad / eclectic musical tastes, ranging from the blues (John Lee Hooker), jazz (Coletrane), classic rock (Clapton), modern rock (huge David Grohl / Foo Fighters fan), indy / contemporary (Deathcab for Cutie), and EDM (Kaskade, etc). Love both mainstream (Spielberg) and indy / foreign films (Cohen Bros / etc). And broad range of literary interest, including American classics (John Steinbeck), Russian classics (Dostoyevsky), Ayn Rand, adventure (Jon Krakauer), and biographies (Steve Jobs, Andre Agassi, etc).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I can't decide which was best so I'll list two : ) I once spent 4 days (with very little sleep ; ) at the Fiesta De San Fermin / Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain with a group of 6 other travelers I had just met days before. And, I also once hiked / climbed to the top of Huayna Picchu (the jagged mountain peak you see in the background of many classic photos of Machu Picchu...)
Teach, Learn, Share
Los Angeles is a HUGE huge city. I am still finding new spots after 15+ years : ) And, Manhattan Beach is like a small yet sophisticated beach oasis within the big city. I can show you some of my favorite spots (both at the beach and in L.A.), and also help you find fun things to do and places to explore on your own. Tourist spots, great restaurants, bars, clubs, concerts, museums, etc, etc, we have it all. Or, just want to spend time at the beach ? You can walk straight down from my house, or you can use one of my bikes and go for a long ride on the bike path (which goes all the way to Venice Beach and Santa Monica). Or, want to give 'beach tennis' a try ? I can show you how to play. Oh - and I have the most comfortable sofa in town... ; )
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a very good self-taught chef, and would love to prepare a special meal if you'd like. Do you play guitar ? If yes I can teach you a couple of my favorite songs. Do you enjoy photography ? I will share any special photos I take. And, I will leave my living space in your home even cleaner than I found it... ; )
