About Me

Hello! I recently graduated from university and am traveling around and working as an English teacher in various part of the world: currently working as an English language assistant in France (Strasbourg area). I work at a high school and I love it.
When traveling, I like wandering around neighborhoods and trying new foods, while taking photos of anything that catches my eye (mostly cool landscapes). I'm constantly on the hunt for a hole in the wall coffee shop. I like to do free walking tours if they are offered in the city just to get the lay of the land and learn about the place I'm visiting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard from friends who have had really great experiences through Couchsurfing, and I'm trying to step out of my little bubble and try traveling in a different way that offers different perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an avid bookworm and currently love reading memoirs and historical fiction.
Latest memoir read: "Becoming" by Michelle Obama.
Some of my all-time favorite books include: "The Book Thief", "The Time Traveler's Wife", and "The Night Circus".
Favorite series include "Harry Potter" (films and books), and Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series (books and tv series). I'll just stop there because the list would seem endless.
I watch almost too many tv shows, but some of my favorites include: "Brooklyn 99", "Parks and Recreation", "Game of Thrones", "The Handmaid's Tale", and lots more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have volunteered at a non-profit in Portland where we teach people who experience disabilities how to ride a two-wheeled bicycle. While in and of itself being an amazing experience, I've been doing it for going on 11 years and it's one of the highlights of my summers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach English abroad to middle school and high school students. I want to improve my French and Portuguese.

I led a 2-week long English Language camp in rural Brazil for middle schoolers and high schoolers. If you host me, I might talk your ear off about how much I loved that experience and how much Brazil means to me just from spending 3 weeks there one summer. This is where my passion for learning Portuguese came from.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a Couchsurfing guest, I can be as flexible as you need. I'm more then willing to find things to do by myself in your wonderful city, or at the same time would appreciate any amount of time you as a host are able to spend with me.
I will try almost anything food wise, especially if it's local or typical of the region. While I won't have anything typical of my home to share with you food-wise, I'd love to discuss differences or similarities.
Swapping travel stories is also another given, otherwise what's one of the main functions of Couchsurfing good for? I love learning about other people's experiences and seeing what makes them happy in life.
