Overview
About Me
I call myself an Entrepreneur because I launched my first startup during MBA at 24. I am a person who loves to ideate and get things executed. I love doing things which give me adrenaline rush like riding, running, cliff jumping and others. Also, I love to watch movies on big screen because it absorbs me and I get to learn from each one of them. I believe that there are no strangers, they are friends we have not yet met.
Currently my wife and me have joined our hands since December 2017 for development of a handcrafted clothing Brand DHANAK (will let you know once we meet).
Here is my long guide for enjoying BOMBAY (I lived there for three years)... Land of seven islands which is now known as Mumbai in its true color within two days. Bombay is more about
food (Since I am Vegetarian so I would be able to recommend you that only) and seaside beauty. Here is my proposed plan for you:
5 a.m. (Saturday): You land Bombay. Since the true is Bombay is located in South hence I strongly recommend you to book hotel in “South Bombay”. Places in South Bombay are oldest …. So it is also most developed area of Bombay. Use http://www.makemytrip.com/hotels/ (best website in India for
travel planning) as a reference and then either through “Make My Trip” or directly contacting the hotel get your bookings done. Once you collect your baggage and you have your hotel name with you, ask someone whereas you can book “Non A/C or A/C Kaali Peeli Cab/Taxi” inside airport. Just tell the
destination (Location of your hotel) to booking window and you will get cab in most nominal charge.
I assume that you choose hotel in South Bombay hence you will save your travelling time. Trust me, nothing much is there to see in Bombay except South Bombay or Juhu, Bandra and/or Band Stand to the extreme (these three places are just near South Bombay). Most of the times you will be walking around the places, so get your comfortable jogging shoes ON.
Day 1:
Saturday Breakfast/Lunch/Brunch: Get yourself treated with best breakfast/Brunch in the city. The authentic taste of Mumbai (Bombay). The place is https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/prakashrestaurant-dadar-shivaji-park (In India whenever you want to search most popular places to eat, just
open www.zomato.com and type your city or area ….. then sort the searched output with rating/popularity … you will get good recommendation, address, maps, etc). Get a Kaali Peeli (means Black Yellow) taxi to reach this place here from your hotel. Always pay by the meter readings. Order Thalipeeth, Piyush Drink and Sabudana vada for sure … may be Puri Bhaji … and may be more ;)
Saturday Afternoon: Get a taxi from Prakash and Visit Siddhivinayak Teample in Prabhadevi for prayers (This temple is most popular temple of Mumbai ). It is nearby Prakash restaurant.
Saturday snacks: From this temple you can walk and reach https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/ashokwada-pav-stall-prabhadevi. Ask anyone way for “Kirti College Vada Pav” and people will show you the way. Again, Vada Pav is favorite snacks for Mumbai people whereas this place serves best “Vada Pav” you can ever taste. There will be que but its worth it.
Saturday Sunset: Its time to relax and enjoy sunset at best place for Sunset in Mumbai. Take a taxi from this “Vada Pav” place to “Worli Sea Face”. It’s a 2.5 kms stretch sea side (my favorite). Sit on the boundaries and observe the view of Sun … Sea waves … listen to them … feel the air .. spend 1-2 hours
atleast … some sellers with Tea or Chana Jor Garam will come … get those .. amazing feels. Also Men will be shouting “Tel Maalish” .. you can get Head massage done by them .. All the Jet lag and all will go.
Saturday Dinner: Take a taxi from Worli Sea Face to https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/sardarrefreshments-tardeo. This guy is said to have invented “Pav Bhaaji” hence order “Amul Pav Bhaaji”. It will be floating in butter but worth a try. Once done then order and eat “Maghayi Paan” just exit of this restaurant. I am sure you all will be hell tired, hence go back to your hotel and rest because there are loads of things to taste and enjoy.
Day 2:
Sunday Lunch (between 12:30 pm to 2:30 p.m.) : Time to taste unlimited yet best Gujrati thali (complete meal for Gujarat (one of the states in India) people). Get a taxi again and reach https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/shree-thaker-bhojanalay-kalbadevi. It is located at one of the interiors of South Bombay but please don’t miss it. At Rs. 400 you will have unlimited food items and
don’t hesitate to ask waiters about food and how to eat it best ;) This place is one of the legendary restaurant in Mumbai. After this you both will super full and start feeling daisy. Time for some walk and authentic shopping.
Afternoon and Evening walk: Get a taxi and reach in front of “Leo Pold Café”
(https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/leopold-cafe-bar-colaba ). This area is known as Kala Ghoda and you have to spend your time here till dinner. There is a street market in front of this café and forward too. Its good to have a look at those things and bargain a lot before buying anything (at least quote half
of the price what shopkeeper quotes you). After street shopping, ask someone the direction or use maps to reach “Gateway Of India”. Reach there, have some photos clicked. Enjoy the view!
Dinner Time: https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/bademiya-colaba. Walk and reach here. These people serve best Muglai food and a must have place if you are in Mumbai. Have every dish (non veg or veg) with Roomali roti. Their red chutney is awesome.
Post Dinner Time: Take a taxi and reach Nariman Point sea side which 1-2 kms away. Sit on sea side wall and enjoy the view which is known as “Queen’s Necklace” (because you see this place from Airplane then this place looks like a Necklace)
Day 3:
Breakfast/Tea (around 10 a.m.): Take a taxi and you can go either
https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/kyani-and-co-marine-lines (have “Elaichi Chai (Tea)” with Bun Maska. Treat yourself with caramel custard and get “Badam Mawa cakes and Shrewsbury biscuits” packed for future.
Take a taxi from here and again reach Gateway of India. Every outsider/foreigner visits Elephanta Caves so I would also say you that you may visit it. Take tickets of shared ferry from Gateway of India to Elephanta caves. Its an hour or two sea ride.
Once you are back from Elephanta Caves, get a taxi from there and get best Persian food in town from
https://www.zomato.com/mumbai/jimmy-boy-fort. I tried “Vegetarian Dhan Shak” and “Veg Lagan Na Bhonu”. Mind blowing. For non veg items you can read Zomato reviews. I have been to majorly all parts of India and otherwise for sure someone in my network is from other parts of India.
So feel free to connect for anything.
