About Me

Hi there,
My name is Anand , a Hippy In Disguise (now that I have cut off my long Mowgli like hair lol) . I love traveling, exploring and understanding new cultures, create bonds and lifetime friendships, seeing and experiencing as much as possible as a traveler (Not a tourist). I usually set out with no agenda in mind and try to experience a place like a local.

I'm very active in the Burning Man scene and have attended a lot of regional burns.
I love Drum circles and good conversations.

My recent travel was to Nicaragua in Dec 2022. It was all awesome until I had a motorcycle accident and I broke my shoulder bone and I had to travel back home to the US (which is a story by itself). 2 Surgeries later, I just started traveling again.

Before that I did this amazing solo road trip thru Vietnam and Cambodia. Mostly traveling in local buses and a little bit of hitch hiking, I met so many good hearted and kind people.

I have also travelled thru South America (Colombia, Peru and one tiny town in the Amazon in Brasil).
It was an intense experience living with the Ticuna tribal people of the Amazon who are so gracious and this particular settlement near the Amacuayi river have no use for money.
I even got to hold their "pet" anaconda..

My badly edited video of this experience is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2a8DJlegX0&ab_channel=HippyInDisguise

Oh the "slow ferry" from Santa Rosa island to Iquitos is a really unforgettable experience. 2.5 days on the ferry.. eating what the local villagers offer/sell on the many stops along the way..
Sleeping on a hammock on the ferry and surprisingly very few bugs and mosquitoes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think and sincerely hope that this would be a great way to really experience a place like a local. I'm not just looking for a place to stay but good conversation with like minded, non materialistic people.
