About Me

CURRENT MISSION

i am looking for love, a job i believe in, and how to utilize all my talents

ABOUT ME

I am a floater. Don't necessarily want to be.
It's just ended up that i travel around a lot. I've worked at a farm in Maine, with a union in Texas, with the government in California, and as all sorts of things in Pittsburgh. I figured out a while ago that what i really wanted was to do "hard work with smart people." It's been a very basic ambition for my life and it's lead me to some really interesting places with some really interesting stories. I try to surround myself with wonder and i really have a thing for overly rational but overly imaginative people.

PHILOSOPHY

Only belief i have confidence in is natural selection. And i like trying to figure out how that plays out in our human lives too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I work hard and try to make sure everyone in the room is having fun. I like to engage people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love couchsurfing. I traveled all the way across Canada using the site, stayed with tecchies and acrobats and oil workers and hippies and anarchists and even had a real Canadian Thanksgiving in Toronto. The people who have surfed on my couch have all been quirky and unique. I really like the ability to show up in a strange town and be guided around by someone who lives there. I like the idea that this isn't just convenient, but it's building a community as well.

Interests

I am interested in good books. I have a really extensive goodreads profile, which is a site i love as much as this one. I am interested in farming and want to one day operate a small farm for either personal or minimal market use. I like biking, working out, challenging myself with anything. I am a big fan of arguments that aren't really arguments, but the fusing together of two people's theories or opinions. So i try to keep an open mind always and hope whomever i'm with does too, because i am very interested in learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

Every time i watch a BBC nature documentary, i am mystified. i am pretty religious about the movie watching experience. I like the lights turned out, preferably a theater projection (or to be in a movie theater) and for no one to talk during the film. I'm thinking of movies i could watch over and over again, the typical ones Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Boogie Nights, Brazil, The Fisher King, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Lives of Others, Amelie, all Coen Bros. films, all paul thomas anderson movies and Danny Devito movies. And this new guy, Steve Mcqueen. I love his films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked with a bunch of activists in Arizona to get Joe Arpaio out of office. Working on that campaign ruled, because i got to talk pretty heavy-handedly with people that were severely threatened by his crazy conservatism. It really felt like i was working with a movement because people were crazy passionate about making America safe from harassment, which is one of my personal beliefs and it felt really good to be a part of something.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a good gardener, a good cook, i know a lot about unions, and a lot of places in the US.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, Portugal
