Overview
About Me
Small family in upstate NY, happy to try the adventure of hosting kind strangers. Love my native Hudson Valley very much, and sharing it with newcomers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Seems a fun thing to do on occasion at our home, and just might make traveling a little more likely for me and my 21 year old son. We both love meeting new people, are naturally inclined to be helpful, and it just seems a good fit for our budget, our curiosity, and how much we love talking to strangers!
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Too varied. Love Pearl Jam, Hank Williams, Sr, and everything in between.
Movies: Amadeus, Big Fish, Wonderful Life all come to mind. And Big Lebowski.
Books: Sometimes a Great Notion, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Hundred Secret Senses, Little Prince
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to Rome during the Jubileo, and did confession at the Vatican. It's quite a story. I got yelled at by the Swiss Guard!
Teach, Learn, Share
Happy to help guests plan fun days, and when possible and desired, will be happy to go to the fun places with them. Hudson Valley is absolutely rampant with beautiful places and interesting things to do. Mohonk Mountain House, Minnewaska State Park, Ice Caves, Storm King, Opus 40, Dia Beacon, FDRs house, Vanderbilt's house, Mills Mansion, swimming holes, cross country skiing (if there is snow on the ground), John Burrough's home, waterfalls, Culinary Institute of America, Eleanor Roosevelt's home, farmstands galore, Catskill Mountain Railroad, water towers overlooking the Catskills and Hudson River, Holy Cross Monastery, more stone houses than anywhere else in the country, etc etc. House is modest, car is red, and our hearts and minds are open.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a great helper, and quite capable. I can make a yummy simple dinner, and am happy to clean up afterwards. Maybe better yet - my french toast casserole can't be beat for breakfast! Happy to make beds and tidy up before leaving, too, of course.
Countries I’ve Visited
Canada, Italy
