Overview
About Me
Hello Couchsurfing! My name is Hugh Curtis and I am a 26 year-old recent graduate (MA Criminology) living in Vancouver, British Columbia. I am looking to make travel acquaintances and long-forming friendships from my travels.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing appeals to both my (a) frugal nature and (b) desire to truly immerse myself in the cultures that I plan to visit and spend time in. I would much rather make friends and contribute with my company (or helping hands) than to just dump money on a hotel or hostel and be done with it.
Interests
I greatly enjoy reading, weightlifting, photography, coding, and studying languages. I began learning Spanish in late 2014 to prepare for a visit to Mexico, and have been hooked since, and hope that my progress will aid in my navigation through South America.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy almost any genre of music (save for country); same goes for movies. I am more into non-fiction when it comes to literature, and I tend to stick with more politically-minded books or those that encompass human decision making (e.g. behavioural economics).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Without much travel experience, this section is unfortunately short - however, I would count playing soccer (football) on Parliament Hill amongst my top experiences.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation! I can also help with simple physical tasks (such as moving furniture/stored items), as I am quite strong.
Countries I’ve Visited
