ABOUT ME

We are Hanne and Vincent, a couple from Lier, Belgium. We are extremely funny and know all the best bars nearby. Secretly we're planning a hostile takeover of the moon, but don't tell anybody..

PHILOSOPHY

"Daar alleen kan liefde wonen, daar alleen is 't leven zoet, waar men stil en ongedwongen alles voor elkander doet."

It's an old Flemish saying that hangs framed in all of Belgium's grandma's houses. Basically, it means you have to be nice to each other.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hoping to get to know a lot of new people and really enjoyed hosting and surfing in Iceland/Croatia/Spain/.... Very curious how it will turn out further on! We hope we could be good hosts to all who want to enjoy Herenthout (where there's nothing to see) or Lier or Antwerp for a few days.

Hosting since may 2011, and really enjoyed surfing couches in Iceland! Ready for a takeover of the rest of the world!

Vincent plays the drums in the infamous rock band Motion Glue. If there are foreign surfers, please don't hesitate to spread his music because they would love to become famous and incredibly rich. Sadly, Motion Glue is no more. But whatever, still spread the word :-) Hanne played the piano. Is now trying contemperary (how do you write it any way?) dance but sucking at it :-) Would love to learn how to swingdance, since we got to know what lindy-hopping is about in Iceland. We still suck at it, although we got another speedcourse in Madrid :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Already have 3 large bookshelves but this still doesn't seem enough actually. Vincent reads everything he gets his hands on, Hanne just gets a small part of the shell for children books and her study books on stuttering. We both agree, along with a lot of other people I guess, that British humour is the best so liking Blackadder, Monty Python, The IT Crowd, The Fast Show, Black Books and Green Wing is obligatory :-)
Loving all kinds of music, and Belgium is definitly the country with the most and best music festivals of the world in summer. If you are a true music lover and have not been to Pukkelpop or Werchter yet, you should! Skip Tommorowland, too much of a crowd! ;-)

Hiking and hitch-hiking around Iceland.
Welcoming couch surfers in our home and having a great time.
Knowing each other for a billion years already and then falling in love.. Yes, sometimes we're mellow.

Teach, Learn, Share

Vincent can teach you how to play drums or other instruments of the rhythmical section of the orchestra. He is a great cook!
Hanne can teach you how to ... deal with your stutter?
We would love to learn lindyhopping or other silly retro-dances, and special recipes from around the world are always welcome! And bring your beers!
