About Me
Hi this is actually Ian and Amelia together, two fully sikk peeps from Britain/Australia/Germany yes three countries for two people that's how special we are.
Amelia Young is a 22 year old drama teacher who hopes to one day be a doctor.
We are road-tripping around the USA for 2 months, starting in San Francisco.
To get to know us, here is an interesting fact: Ian has developed an allergy to seafood at the age of 23, discovering it only while in Rome after eating spaghetti ala frutti del mare, which may seem a pointless fact to mention here but which is actually relevant because of the story below; it was felt that clarification was needed in case the topic of crustaceans came up later in conversation, say when discussing what to have for dinner (and by the way Ian and Amy are great cooks and love flavours*) - here a brief segway allows us to introduce the second reason why mentioning this perhaps trivial factoid is relevant here, which is that if any host would happen to have prawns, and offer them for eating, Ian would refuse the kind offer... but really the aforementioned reason should be elucidated upon, finishing the thought per se, which is that lest we be misunderstood over the factual legitimacy of said story below, which both of us can 100% vouch for as nothing but true, save for some confusion over the exact number of wine bottles consumed by our two adventuring travelers, we should explain about his allergy.
*note the British English spelling here, which underlines the cultural differences between US Americans and travelers from Britain and Australia, differences that Amy and Ian are very keen to experience and explore with their gracious hosts.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Cuz hostels are too expensive and also because we want to hang out with sick kharnts from all around the world!!
Also there's something strangely comforting for me about the musty smells of people's couches... a fine fragrance like the delicate bouquet of an excellent red from the Hunter's valley, NSW... one vineyard in particular we remember well, nestled gently between two hills lush and green. The sun was shining that afternoon, its amber glow cast over the mountain range, and Amelia and Ian bought three bottles of wine from different wineries, drank them, and had a romantic BBQ prawns dinner out the back of the car looking at the moon.
