I'm Ian, 20, from Singapore and I'm currently a first year student at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). I do not have a couch/bed to lend at the moment as I spend most of my time in school and in NTU's hostel. But if you ever find yourself in Singapore, do contact me if you need a free tour, it would be an honour to bring you around my tiny island.

I love to travel and will jump onboard any chance given. Will wander to whereever my foot can carry me. Will work for food and have an insatiable appetite for adventures. Also, I like contemporary poetry, many genres of music, communicating, pragmatic radical politics, reading, consent-based decision processes, and cooking.

Hope to make new friends, and get a chance to understand / immerse myself in new cultures and languages.

On top of the above-mentioned, I hope to find find like-minded individuals who are willing to travel together.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To visit new places, meet new people, make new friends and to try experience everything while i'm still young!

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favourite songs are from Kodaline, The Drums, OneRepublic, George Ezra and Vance Joy. I also indulge in music from composers like Hans Zimmer, Yiruma, Beethoven and Pachelbel.

I guess I'm into Psychological Thrillers, Fantasy, Romance, Biographies and Non Fiction and comedy because who doesn't like a good laugh :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Definitely solo traveling! Before embarking on my first solo, I was extremely nervous (overthinker here) and thought that traveling alone seemed like an extremely daunting experience. Fast forwarding 2 years later, I'm in love with the idea of traveling alone. For me now, the most exciting possibility about being solo is the opportunity to be introspective, reflective, and really observe my surroundings. I can't wait to take time for myself and do the things that make me happy. I want to be able to spend time taking in the sights and sounds of the city at my own pace.

Thomas Jefferson once said, "One travels more usefully when alone because he reflects more." I don't know this to be true quite yet, however I can't imagine proving TJ wrong anytime soon. :)
