About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a place to stay in Calgary / Banff / Canmore, AB Canada area for a short mid-September trip with my good friend Jenny (featured in my profile photo with me from a few years ago) where we hope to do some hiking, canoeing, adventuring, food tasting, coffee drinking, etc.

ABOUT ME

I live in Los Angeles but am originally from Massachusetts. I love all things music, live concerts, dogs (I have a rescue dog named Jonah!), animals, farmer's markets, hiking, campfires, taekwondo, badminton, archery, reading, writing, podcasts, coffee, ice cream, film and television, comedy and storytelling shows, etc. Autumn is my favorite season and Halloween is my favorite holiday.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently unable to host but in the meantime I can offer travel tips re: sights, cool local music venues, events, restaurants and public transportation in Los Angeles, CA for those looking to visit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed a few times but it's been a few years. I had a great experience in Portland, OR and Austin, TX staying with some very chill, friendly and informative hosts. My friend Jenny (old college bff) is my long weekend-trip travel buddy and she is also on CS and pictured in my profile photo with me.

Also, while not officially a CS experience a few of my friends from Italy are on here who I have hosted in L.A. in the past and who have hosted me in Italy (we all met at the Rebellion punk music festival in Blackpool, England years back).

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm all over the musical map! Name a band/genre and let's chat! Current playlist includes: Ozomatli, Rudimental, Stiff Little Fingers, La Misa Negra, E.L.O, The Savage Detectives, The Kinks, Iggy Pop, etc. I've also seen a lot of great concerts over the years, from The Temptations to A Perfect Circle to Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, just to name a few.

Too many books to list too, but a few of my favorite authors include: Steve Almond, Junot Diaz, Barbara Kinsolver, Sherman Alexie, Amy Stewart, Roxane Gay.

Movies - also hard to narrow down but a few classic favorite films include: Cannibal the Musical, The Warriors, Over the Edge, The Thing, The Firm, Jurassic Park, New Jack City, Le Herisson (The Hedgehog - French film - I also love going to the French film festival every year in L.A.), etc.

TV - so many but a few recent faves...The Expanse, Madame Secretary, Ozark, Gotham, Sneaky Pete, The Handmaid's Tale, Weird Wonders of the World, Parts Unknown, G.L.O.W., etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met and hugged Joe Strummer after a Mescaleros concert about a year before he died.

Foster and adopt my dog Jonah through rescue group Angel City Pit Bulls.

Traveling to Israel (Highlight: first kiss), Northern Italy (Highlight: Local beer drinking and going to Rebellion festival with my Italian, American & Finnish friends, traveling by train), Dublin (Highlight: Seeing The English Beat play with Rankin' Roger and his son on St. Patty's Day, eating a naughty doorstep and crepes with my friend/college roommate), London (Everything! The markets, the architecture, the accents, the SHOWS) and the Dominican Republic (Highlight: Swimming/snorkeling in clear waters, making friends with Dominican punks and rappers).

Teach, Learn, Share

The fine art of Kazoo playing.
Dinosaur and other dancing.
Circle Pit Etiquette.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company, an open ear, and I'm a very considerate guest (went to boarding school in high school so I've lived with other people since I was 14 and have gotten very good at it!).
