Overview
About Me
I'm a small town girl in a big town world. I like the bustle of the city and watching people rushing by (trying to guess what their goal is) while I sip a cappuccino in a cosy cafe. However, only in small doses...
Even more so I love nature and it's miracles. I'm perplexed and amazed by nature's ecosystems and way of regenerating again and again. And I'm sad that big corporations like Monsanto idles nature and poison humans.
I'm baffled by the fact that people spend so much money on food and real estate. I think the rapid urbanisation of the world is a negative development although I can't currently say I'm not a part of it, as I live in a somewhat expensive apartment in Copenhagen and, well, still sip cappuccinos. But one day I want to live a sustainable, holistic life. Actually I truly believe that is what everyone should strive for in order to create a better world.
I don't like that money have total power over most people's lives and I would like to become independent from money. One day.
When I chose my university studies (BA) I always followed my heart. I have a great interest in different cultures and religions and I love to learn about the world and the simple things in life - and I often feel like I do when I speak to people with a complete different mindset and cultural background.
Furthermore I'm interested in sustainability at all levels (MSc). I'm always on a mission to minimize my global footprint but it isn't really enough just minimizing and that annoys me. I don't want to leave a footprint at all. I recently read the book "Cradle to Cradle" and it said something like (reference from memory): "Just because you hit a child once instead of five times, it still doesn't solve the problem because you still hit the child". I think that is a good way of thinking of it and we all should be more conscious of our daily earthly damage.
As I said, I live in Copenhagen and have been doing so for 6-7 years or so. I live here with my partner Jonathan whom I've known for almost a decade now. Crazy how time flies!
Besides Copenhagen I've also lived in some smaller towns in Denmark. I have also temporarily lived in Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, and a few years ago I lived in a small German town called Tübingen - I did a semester there but honestly I mostly just wanted to improve my German language, which I did.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Right now Jonathan and I are about to sublet our apartment and go backpacking. I have just finished my master's degree and the world is open! We are taking 6 months off to explore and learn about sustainable systems. We also want to start learning Spanish. We will be going on different workaway projects where we will work, learn, eat and sleep, but sometimes we will also need accommodation in cities. Our first stop will be New York followed by Washington DC a few weeks later. We also know that we will be going to Costa Rica and at some point of our journey we also want to go to Vietnam and Tanzania. We're traveling on a budget the whole time so we're really hoping to be hosted by some awesome, interesting people. We like to cook with fresh ingredients and will always as a minimum cook a nice meal for a host as a thank you for hosting us.
We both love couchsurfing and have been surfing and hosting quite a bit some years ago but due to busy schedules we haven't been much involved with the couchsurfing community for a couple of years. However, we are looking forward to getting involved again! Once we're back from our travels we want to start hosting again too.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't watch TV and I only watch movies once in a blue moon. Instead I watch many DIY videos on YouTube. I also read some books sometimes - lately the books I've been reading have been about sustainability.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Some years ago I went to New Zealand where I went bungy jumping, zorbing and skydiving. I've also been swimming in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and been on some pretty epic journeys across the two countries. I like pushing myself into doing new things and I'm sure there's going to be a lot more cool things to try in the future.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you want to hear about it, I will gladly share my thoughts on the world. If you are interested in learning or practising Scandinavian languages I can also help you out. I can also give you some very valuable traveling tips if you want to travel around Denmark or Australia.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Jonathan and I can cook up a good hearty meal and offer some great conversations/discussions. I'm a humanist and socialist but I do not mind staying with people that are not. But it will be difficult for me to not discuss our different views ;)
