About Me

I'm a very active person that loves travelling and dancing! I like to meet new people and speak with them to know about different cultures, philosophy and experiences.

"Viajamos para cambiar, no de lugar, si no de ideas"- Hipólito Taine - "We travel not to change the location, but the ideas"
I would change this a little bit, and instead of saying that it is to change our ideas, I would say that we travel in order to expand our ideas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love travelling and meeting new people.
Everyone likes to receive things, but if everyone waits till someone gives something to them, nobody would receive anything. At the same time, everyone should give something: help, company, friendship, trust,... Because each of us have something different to offer.
And this different thing is the one that should motivate us to meet new people, so that everyone gets richer in their interior, and CS gives us the oportunity to make this possible.

Interests

I love breathing pure air, walking on the beach, hicking, skiing...the nature has a lot of things to offer us.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I love Rock, Ska, and some Pop music. My favourite band?...mmm..maybe a basque band called Zea Mays. I won't lie, most of the music I listen to is basque music, or even some bands that are similar to that ones. I also like some DUB or sound system. But I'm not so closed to local music, I also know bands like Pink Floyd, Nirvana, some ACDC and this kind of music. But I'm always looking for music that I've never heard, so just ask me and we'll se if I know them, maybe we can lengthen my music list.

BOOKS
Last year a book I read that I liked a lot was the one of Naomi Klein, This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate. Because as I'm studying an engineering in renewable energy, I wanted to learn more things that we can't learn or don't have the oportunity to learn at the university. But appart from this book, I used to read a lot before; in fact, I have a lot of books in my room (I'm quite classic with this and still like to feel the paper while reading), but sometimes studies take too much of my time and that's why I can't find a moment to stop and relax reading.
Some other books: "He sobrevivido para contarlo" (a real story about a man that survived to the holocaust), "Ecotopia" of Ernest Callenbach (a couchsurfer advised me this one and I'm really thankful for his recomendation), "Todo esto te daré" of Dolores Redondo, "Morder la manzana" of Leticia Dolera (an actual book about feminism).

FILMS
As I like to spend my little free time with my friends outside, nowadays I haven't recently seen a lot of films, but some recent films that I've liked a lot are Red Sparrow, The Danish Girl, Split (Múltiple in spanish), Shutter Island, The woman in black and Inglourious Basterds (not so recent ones),...these are some of the films I've watched more than ones and would definetly watch them again.

Of course! I'm always opened to every recommendation!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was doing some research at Boston and I felt really lucky to be able to attend a lecture of Angela Davis at Boston Public Library, such a wise woman. In that moment I had no words to describe how I was feeling: so grateful, happy, released, inspired...no words. I still feel these feelings when I remember her lecture.

We've also gone swimming to the river in Bern with our host, what was really spectacular (and cold). The river flow was so quick that you couldn't realise that you were trying to swim.

And we also had a Yoga class in a lenguage we didn't understand! It was with our host in Salzburg, and we accepted to join a Yoga class, but it was in German and neither Oihana or I know anything about German, so that was a funny fact in that fantastic experience that, fortunatly, we finished all in one piece.

But without a doubt, the most incredible thing I've done is to meet my friend Oihana (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/oihana-valverde). Nobody (or almost nobody) has met in so many different situations without planning anything as we've had. What's our story? You'll need to meet us to know hahaha.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that we can learn a lot from people, everyone has a world inside them.
I can help you practice spanish and, of course, teach you some basque.
I like cooking spanish omelette (known as patata tortilla in my country), so I can teach you cook this popular and delicious food. And during our last CS experiences we've learned some other dishes that we could cook.
If you are staying in Gasteiz, I would absolutly try to show you the city and our culture the wy other couchsurfers so me theirs. Well, I would try to show it to you as well as posible :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm studying Engineering in Renewable Energy and I like to hear and know about the different points of view that people have about this matter. I also like to talk about the different perceptions of the life and to discuss about the society and its new and old problems. Always looking for new things to learn.
I can also teach you some basque!! (Just if you dare to)
