About Me

CURRENT MISSION

recreating the universe in every single instant - but that's what we're all doing, isn't it?

ABOUT ME

Zen Buddhism, shiatsu, yoga, comic books, literature, film, (sub- and counter-)culture, punkskareggaedrumnbass and other music are my core interests, so to speak. (Not necessarily in that order.)

Most people (including me) seem to find me pretty open-minded and easy to get along with. Like anyone else, I've got my views, spleens and ideals, but I try not to be too dogmatic about them.

I'm basically a vegetarian- and vegan-friendly non-smoker, but by no means a vegetarian myself. (You'll hardly find any meat in my fridge, though, and you should usually even be able to prepare at least a basic vegan meal from the ingredients you'll find in there.) I also drink alcohol on occasions, but normally not more than one or two bottles of beer or a double shot.

I like quiet, gentle people, but I also like party animals. In winter, I myself am not the partying type at all, in summer I'm somewhat more open to partying through the night, though.

I guess I'll usually manage to adapt to your mode of being without losing my own profile.

Welcome!

PHILOSOPHY

Let's talk about that once we meet - if it matters then.

(Take a look at "Teach. Learn. Share." for a general idea, if you wish. It's not that important, though.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By extending my hospitality towards you and by availing of yours ;-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've already had a lot of pleasant experiences with CouchSurfing, and before that, Hospitality Club.
I usually was a guest for a night or two when I went on long walks. Although I mostly stayed for very short periods of time, I found a lot of hosts I could relate well to and I'm really looking forward to meeting some of them again in the future. As a matter of facts, a couple of hosts have actually become dear friends of mine.

I've had my fair share of guests in Wuppertal as well. Judging by their references, they all enjoyed their stays at my place. And I enjoyed having them.

Interests

See above, plus jogging, cycling, swimming, (non-drinking-related) outdoor games, going to concerts and general clubbing.

Music, Movies, and Books

It'd be an ever-changing list.
Some of those items I'll probably always love are:
"A Clockwork Orange" (film and book),
Hardcore Zen (book by Brad Warner, now also avalaible in German [same title]),
Sandman (a comic series by Neil Gaiman, it's absolutely mind-blowing!),
Ikkyu (comic biography of a "crazy" zen monk's life in medieval Japan).

Music is just to vast a field to pick favorites, though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in lakes, rivers, and the sea.
I know this isn't too spectacular, but it's lovely and for free.
And you can even do it around Wuppertal!

Teach, Learn, Share

Look deeply ;-)

In fact, all we need is already there (couchsurfing, for instance, is just one proof for that).

We all live our lives limited by the constraints imposed by certain conditions. Yet, in the present moment, we are absolutely free to act (within those constraints).

All we can do if we want to achieve some goal is to aim very carefully and then let the arrow fly from the bow. After that, things are up to the arrow.

If we learn to accept that, we'll learn some important things:
- aiming is vital
- it isn't a guarantee for hitting the mark, though
- thus, frustration is futile

Knowing about that stuff may help a bit. Understanding it intellectually isn't sufficient, though.
You gotta grasp it with every fibre of your being, and constantly try to put it into practice.

I'm trying. Most of the time I'm failing. So what?
