Overview
About Me
Ahoi, I am Ilja. I really like to travel and I really like it at home as well. As a person that likes to spend it‘s days outdoors, the winter in Germany can be quite hard on me. My open mind is always open for interesting experiences. When something doesn’t go as planned, I usually return better prepared.
And if not: You can always learn from any experience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To get around, make authentic connections and find places that I want to be in for a longer time period. Meeting people expands and changes my perspectives. We live in a world where every bit of your time is somehow connected to spending money. I want to be part of an approach that focuses of giving and receiving.

Music, Movies, and Books
I‘m into long audiobook sessions, my mind drifts off when I’m trying to read paper books.
Films: Big Lebowski, Good bye Lenin, Pulp Fiction.
Music: Techno: Hard, Underground, Acid; Rock: Oldschool, Hippie, Alternative. You name it! Metal and hiphop for hangouts and punk only on concerts.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Stuff that happens on a regular basis:
- I go ice bathing every spring. Worst part for me is the ankles, best part is the brain and body reboot.
- Resource management: I do Foodsharing every week to lower my cost of groceries and I try to organize myself around buying new stuff
- Community events in the city
Some great memories:
-Student exchange program to the US
-Summer bicycletours with friends and family
-Motorcycling to Austria
-Running a halfmarathon
- My first time skying experience was this winter

Teach, Learn, Share
I started learning Spanish some weeks ago. So far I survived most of my Spanish supermarket visits without switching to English. Except that one time I forgot my wallet in the car. We can partner up, if you’re up for some German. I speak Russian as well, but don’t know any grammar rules.
I‘d love to know some Yoga, Pilates or Stretch exercises to be fit and flexible. Big interests are edible plants, food forests and alternative lifestyles. You like climbing -> hell yeah
What I Can Share with Hosts
Funny stories, recommendations regarding the visit in lovely Berlin. I know places where subculture is happening, cool places to hang out. Lost places, nature hiking routes, community dinners and low cost hidden gems.
