About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"...to live in that region of hysteria where language is both too much and too little... " -Roland Barthes

ABOUT ME

My life out West carved a permanent interest in earth building, whole systems thinking and solidified my passion for conservation. After 2 trips to Europe and a life changing journey through Peru, I took my first solo road trip 7 years ago to see the states, and fell in love with the open road. After 5 years in the desert southwest, I've returned East to live in an old farmhouse on 5 acres with beautiful old growth pecan trees. Not sure if I am happier in the barn, the garden or the darkroom... likely on the open road.
UPDATE: tore myself away from the sweet farmstead for conservation easement wilderness in a small village in the blue ridge mountains. balance this with a city house in Grandin Village of Roanoke. both have couches depending on your adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

“Sitting at our back doorsteps, all we need to live a good life lies about us. Sun, wind, people, buildings, stones, sea, birds and plants surround us. Cooperation with all these things brings harmony, opposition to them brings disaster and chaos.”
― Bill Mollison, Introduction to Permaculture

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

travelled 8 countries in 5 weeks before the Euro. hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. stood in a river of sand at the Great Sand Dunes, CO. obtained back-country permit, camped solo with coyotes yipping in the distance in the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest on a balmy 20 degree night. stood in the path of a ground volt of lightning, was thrown ten feet, woke laughing hysterically, zapped my immune system and caught a deadly version of valley fever that led me down a path of healing that changed my life.
