About Me
Hi my name is Jackie! I am a middle school science teacher in Miami. I was placed here through Teach for America. I love to travel and go on adventures. I am new to couch surf as a member but I went to Washington D.C. with my friends for MLK weekend and couch surfed there and it was a great experience that I would love to have again :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am really interested in traveling and seeing the real side of wherever I'm going. I like being a tourist sometimes, but most of the time it seems ingenious. Like you're not getting to know the REAL city like the locals know it.
Interests
I enjoy singing and crafting. This past year I decided that I wanted to learn the things I've always wanted to learn because I feel like as an adult with an actual career, I won't have time for any of that. So I took up crochet, sewing, and I can play 3 songs on the ukulele (Ingrid Michaelson, watch out) I also like being philanthropic. I volunteer pretty regularly and I'm part of a nonprofit organization that helps empower communities abroad.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I love indie, rock, hip hop, acoustic, rap, pop, electric.… basically anything except for country and heavy metal.
Movies: I cannot decide! I love the sappy chick flicks sometimes and my favorite is crazy stupid love. It's so lame but I love Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. I also really enjoy the Harry Potter series ( I haven't read all the books, don't judge me). If I feel like crying I like Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Books: I don't read that often but recently I read the fault in our stars and it was great but also depressing. Movie made me cry real tears.
TV: my newest obsession has been Jane the Virgin it is a great show and I love it! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year in the summer I was in 4 different continents! (if you count North America lol) I first went to Brazil to visit my (then) boyfriend's family, and then backpacking through Europe for two weeks to make my way to my study abroad in India :) I have never traveled as much in my life and it was amazing!
Teach, Learn, Share
My favorite quote:
"I look up at the night sky, and I know that, yes, we are part of this Universe, we are in this Universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the Universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up—many people feel small, because they’re small and the Universe is big, but I feel big, because my atoms came from those stars." - Neil deGrasse Tyson
I think it's really important to keep things into perspective. We are all important and life is what we make of it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think I would be a cool and fun houseguest. I have a lot of traveling stories that I could share in conversation! I'm also pretty crafty so I can teach you how to crochet. I pack lightly, would really only need a place to crash at night (although I would love to get to know my host) , and will gladly contribute to housework/ grocery purchases!
