About Me

I grew up near Chicago, just moved to Philly, and have lived in Nebraska, Iowa, Washington DC, and Madrid. I love to spend hours on foot exploring a new place (alone or with friends). I really enjoy a night on the town dancing so hoping to find other fun-loving individuals to connect with. Particularly interested in staying with fellow LGBTQ people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To make the most of my travels to new cities by staying with locals and seeing what the city has to offer.

Interests

I love to listen to music all day (see below), try out new recipes, read a lot of sociology, walk around new places and explore, dance around my apartment (and the club), and share memories and advice with friends new and old!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I enjoy music from many genres and eras! My favorite decades for music are the fifties, eighties, and nineties. I also listen to a lot of newer stuff. I'm always on the lookout for music and look forward to hearing your recommendations!

Here's my Spotify profile if you want to see what I've been listening to lately:

My favorite films are Fargo, Black Swan, Pan's Labyrinth, Blue Velvet, A Serious Man, Requiem for a Dream, Birdman, Y Tu Mamá También, and Precious.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to an academic conference in Seattle and presented original research on gender and sexuality. I met a lot of amazing people there, and the whole trip helped me reach my current goal of becoming a sociology professor. Perhaps not as flashy as climbing Mount Everest like others have! I am not as experienced with international travel (yet), so a lot of my best memories are in the U.S.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make you a great playlist, cook with you, and have interesting conversations about politics and social justice.

Would love to meet someone who can teach me how to DJ, help me improve my Spanish, and explain to me what the hell a Roth IRA is.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Kenya, Netherlands, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Spain, United States
