About Me

Hey there, fellow travelers! 🌍👋

I’m Jakob, 24, a biologist currently studying for my master’s in Göttingen. When I’m not studying or working in the garden 📚🌿, I’m out exploring nature! If it involves being outdoors—hiking, biking, climbing, or just soaking in the fresh air—I’m totally in! 🏞️

I also love to cook 🍳, so if you’re into trying new dishes (or have a secret recipe you want to share), we’ll definitely get along. Nothing beats ending a day of adventure with a delicious homemade meal. 😋

I’m always up for chatting about things going on in our world 🌿 and learning new things about our local animals and plants—it’s amazing how much there is to discover. So whether it’s trading stories, travel tips, or just hanging out with good food and conversation, let’s connect!

If you’re ever in Göttingen or exploring nearby, hit me up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I love meeting new people in new places—it completely transforms the experience of exploring unknown cities and hidden spots. 🗺️ Whether it’s getting insider tips, sharing stories, or just having a local to hang out with, it adds a whole new layer to traveling. For me, the best memories are made when you connect with others, and Couchsurfing is the perfect way to do that. Plus, it’s always awesome to learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives!

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I’m all over the place! 🎶 One of my favorite artists at the moment is Loyle Carner, but you’ll catch me listening to all sorts of things 🎧

As for books, I’m a big fan of adventure novels and stories that focus on nature and our connection to it. 🌿 Where the Crawdads Sing is by far my favorite—it really hit home for me! I’m always looking for more good books if you have some recommendations 🙂‍↔️

When it comes to movies, I’ve got pretty varied tastes. 🎥 Some movies I love, others… not so much. One thing’s for sure though—you won’t catch me watching anything from the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I’d much rather go for something with a bit more depth or meaning…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My field trip to India earlier this year 😁 It started as a road trip with some friends from Bangalore to Kochi 🚙🐘 We then spent 2 weeks in the rainforest of Kerala and the western Ghats and explored the Himalayas of Uttarakhand for two weeks afterwards 🌄🦚

We saw lots of amazing places and species 🕌🦋🥭and met many amazing people working hard to improve the state of the local environment and communities

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m a jack of all trades but a master of none (I know that’s so cliche 😅).

I can probably teach you some stuff about nature and native species of plants and animals (and how they interact. I also like to cook and my mind is full of recipes 👨🏽‍🍳

I am trying to learn spanisch atm, any help is appreciated 🙂

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share plenty of stories from my travels, my love for nature, and the adventures I’ve had along the way! 🌍 I also love talking about the environment and sharing cool facts or insights about biodiversity and nature conservation 🌿

Besides that, I’m happy to share my cooking skills—nothing beats a good homemade meal after a day of exploring! 🍳
