My name is Jakub and I am new to Couchsurfing! I am a student and togehether with my girlfriend we love to travel! (Our goal is to visit all capitals of European countries! - so far, we did 7 😇). Right now, we study at high school, and we work our asses off ;) during the school year to save money for travelling during the holidays.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We joined Couchsurfing to meet new people and to get to know the locals, because we realised that those are the ones with whose help we can explore the city/country the best :)

If you wish to meet us in Slovakia - we are more than happy to show you any part you wish! Whether you would like to explore its natural or cultural beauties - we can go anywhere with you. Literally, becauase thanks to small size of our conutry, everything is accesible by train on only 1 day!

Music, Movies, and Books

I hope I won’t disappoint anyone when I say that I almost never actively listen to music.. 😅
But if I had to choose, I would go with pop artists like Bruno Mars, One Republic, etc.

Movies - that is my cup of coffee/tee (whichever you like 🙃). I can watch literally anything. I am a huge fan of all series and movies (well, maybe only except soap-operas :) - I like sci-fi, comedies, cartoons, romantic movies, horrors…

When it comes to books, I am more picky 🙃 I love detective novels from Agatha Christie (and detective novels overall - e.g. recently, I discovered Robert Bryndza’s detective Erika Foster 👌) and of course, Harry Potter 🥰. Sure, sometimes I read also something out of mentioned - but such book has to be highly recommended by at least one reliable friend 🙃

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I know that for some people this might be something ordinary, but for me it was a huge step out of a comfort zone (If I were Neil Armstrong, I would say: “One small step for you, but giant leap for me.” 😅)

As a part of my silver Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) I’ve spent 3 day and 2 nights in a forest on a “adventurous expedition”. I’ve slept in a tent for the first time and during the 3 days we walked (or rather hiked) more than 60 kilometres.

It has taught me a lot. I had to cooperate with my team members in very tense situation, we had to plan our water management really carefully looking for springs and wells, we had to orient ourselves without a map, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very much interested in various topics raging from science through civics including history and showbiz. Most of all I like to speak about what I’ve seen and gone through.

And even if I have nothing to say, I am really good at listening and after doing so, I am pretty sure I will be able to speak again 🙂
