About Me

Retired software engineer. Priority now is just to keep myself healthy, fit and happy. Enjoy designing things and tinkering with things to make them work when they don't. Enjoy intelligent conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The highlight of travelling [through life and places] is the folks you meet along the way. You miss out on the opportunity to experience places via the native folks when you stay in hotels. When you open up your home to guest from other places you get to experience the people of this world without ever leaving where you live.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music genre is classic rock but I also enjoy folk, early rock, blues, motown, and classical. Favorite movie genre is science fiction but I can enjoy almost any movie with a decent storyline. Books - I guess I tend to favor biographies and and autobiographies these days. In past years I've read mostly classic works of fiction written by some of the well known American authors including Hemmingway, Fritzgerald, Sinclair, Dreiser, Steinbeck. Also read a fair bit of science fiction years back as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nothing too amazing I'm afraid but between undergrad and graduate school I spent about a year travelling around the country living out of my 1971 Volkswagen Van. It was a wonderful experience and I am hoping couchsurfing will be similar in many ways.

Teach, Learn, Share

Fat leaves our body as H20 and CO2. It is the metabolic process of converting fat to quantities of these two molecules that provides us energy along its path out of our body. Matter is neither created or destroyed in this metabolic process so the mass of fat does not get converted to energy as many tend to assume.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I just enjoy meeting and talking with others about life in general and find kinship in sharing my story with others. I'm pretty philosophical and enjoy listening to as well as relating to others my own thoughts on life. Being an engineer, I can certainly lend advice on how I might approach any project for your home or space you might be thinking about or planning on doing.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Mexico, Virgin Islands, British, Virgin Islands, U.S.
