About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding myself. Where should I begin? How about under that carpet. Oh look, it can fly! What was I searching for, again?

ABOUT ME

Jack of all trades and master of none. I love trying out new stuff, but rarely stick with something for long. So I can do plenty of stuff quite OK but Im no expert in most of it.

Apart...I know, I know. Everyone here is easy going. But I really don't know what phrase I can use for describing myself. Two examples.
1. I don't need much: Half way travelling through Europe I ran out of money. I slept in parks, on beaches and shared blankets with some hobos in Barcelona. BTW, that also tells you how well I'm with money...
2. I always look on the bright side of life (got the movie reference? :P): Once, I was working for a guy through workaway. I was supposed to stay there for two months. After three days of work (without any incidents!) he came to me and said: "Alright Jan, that's it. I want you to pack your stuff, you have to leave within an hour." That hit me like a sledge hammer. But I took 3 deep breaths, then thought: well then, let's have a new adventure...

Of course, there's more to these stories but I hope you got the idea. Im happy to share them over a beer or tea! In general, Im happy to share whatever I have!

PHILOSOPHY

I have a mantra: "There is no truth, there is only perception". This way, I don't see the world in terms of right and wrong anymore and I am constantly learning to accept other people's perspectives.
It's pretty tough sometimes so I have to recall my mantra many times and I probably fail more often than I don't. But putting myself in a challenging situation I see as a step in the right direction. Therefore, I appreciate having a conversation with people with completley different perspectives, even though I'd probably never agree.

"It's only after we've lost everything, that we're free to do anything!" (Fight Club)

"Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Slow travelled around for a year...twice. Made me stay in Chiang Mai for a month, Mexico for half a year, so it goes.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a language teacher I can teach you German and English and even the basics of Spanish as I learned it on my own.

I did a Thai Massage course in Chiang Mai. To not forget what I've learned I need to practice, so...

Juggling with up to 4 balls.

Handstand and other acrobatics.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Everything I have and know!

Give me some percussion instrument and I'll jam along. Give me a kitchen and I'll serve you dinner. Give me your time and we'll turn it into nice memories. OK, the last one was a bit too corny.
But you got the idea :P
