About Me

I'm 22 years, double majoring in German Literature/Linguistic and Media and Cultural Studies and just spent an exchange semester in Melbourne. Probably the best 5 months of my life so far! I have learned lots, seen incredible things and met some of the most amazing people.
Now I'm traveling around New Zealand (and Australia later) with one of the loveliest Dutch girls ever! Still can't get over the beauty of all the things we've seen so far. We're so lucky to get to see all this!

So what else is there about me? I would consider myself an open-minded person, even though I can be quite shy before I get to know someone. Once I feel comfortbale around people I can't shut up. But of course I do stop before it gets annoying... at least that's what I like to think.
I'm obsessed with languages, I try to understand the process of language acquisition, language use and most of all what it says about a person. It's incredible how much you can learn from how a person speaks. I would love to work in linguistic research after I graduate...or at the Goethe Institut (they organise German language courses and help overcome cultural differences) pretty much all around the world...or as a literary scholar maybe?
and that's the thing: I'm not very good at making decisions, at least final once. There are so many things to do and to see and I'd hate to think that I'm missing out on the great stuff. That's why I love traveling so much- I never feel like I'm missing out on something when I'm learning new things :)

I am very much looking forward to meeting new people and see new places! :)
I finally got excited Howitt!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I signed up for couchsurfing for my Interrail Trip last year, but I never really got around to using it for various reasons, then I forgot my password, so here I am. Brand new account! Haha.
I just love the concept of couchsurfing! I love meeting people and making friends all around the world. I think it's a great way to network and get to know the people and the culture of the places I visit. Obviously locals know the area better than anyone else! I'm excited for my first couchsurfing experience! :)

Interests

I LOVE traveling! In a few years time I'm hoping to go on a trip around the world, in the meantime I'm just trying to tick off as many places as possible on my list. But instead of getting shorter, it just keeps getting longer the more places I have seen. Seems to be the nature of traveling. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm madly in love with the Arctic Monkeys! But actually never got around to seeing them live. I can't believe myself! :( Somehow I've always been on the exact other side of the world from wherever they were touring... but I will manage someday and it will be epic. That's for sure!

I generally really enjoy reading. At the moment I am mostly reading German classics (for uni), but am also trying to get around English and American literature. I also really like Fantasy and Science Fiction and really hope that doesn't make me sound like too much of a Nerd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the Grand Canyon- probably the hardest, but most amazing thing I have ever done in my life! Have never been this proud of anything since.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately I'm not a great cook, but I've got some amazing chopping skills and have been complimented on my washing-up skills many times. :D

We are almost 100% sure there are a lot of other things we have to offer, but just can't come up with at the moment... feel free to contact us if there's anything you wanna know! (:
