Overview
About Me
I'm a 32 year old wildlife biologist that travels the world (when we can) with my 33 year old wildlife biologist partner, David! We are looking to meet new friends in amazing places and learn more about the places we visit! We have a dog named Siren that we will talk about incessantly and I'll probably show you the tattoo I have of her face. Our favorite thing to do is sit around a campfire with some good whiskey and awesome friends, camping, and living life to the absolute fullest.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
David and I would love to meet new and interesting people that have been to places we're going and show us around their hometowns. Meeting people is the only way to fully get to know a place and immerse yourself, so we're hoping couchsurfer can introduce us to some awesome people along the way!
Interests
Archery-David has a 1950s Fredbear recurve bow and I have a Mongolian horse bow. David enjoys poi, juggling, slack lining, and riding his unicycle around, mostly I just watch (my hand-eye coordination is shit). Traveling! (Is that obvious ;)), roadtrips around the west coast and southwest, hiking with Siren, reading, concerts, literature, and science! Sometimes we literally lay in bed all day eating pizza and watching Netflix and other days we hike 15 miles up the side of a mountain. Balance.
Music, Movies, and Books
We're both pretty open to all genres of music (I have a pretty eclectic music library).. Constant favorites are Nirvana, Soundgarden, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Cash, John Denver, Gogol Bordello, Sierra Farrell...and so many more. We both enjoy nonfiction, fiction, and of course biological field guides. Movies are mostly comedy, lately we've been watching RomComs (no idea why), and action.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked in an elephant orphanage in Africa, where I was able to help reintroduce elephants and other large fauna back into the wild!
David was the amphibian/reptile Crew Lead for one of the largest animal "land-bridges" in the US!
While in Australia we hitchhiked from Melbourne to Uluru to King's Canyon and then to Alice Springs. In all we covered about 2000 km in the middle of summer and it was amazing!
We’ve finished an 18 month Round the World trip (2016-2017) that rocked our lives- adjusting to a more stationary life has been difficult, but we look forward to when we can do shorter trips abroad!
Teach, Learn, Share
David and I can share our experiences working in the field, teaching English, and sharing knowledge we've gathered with our degrees and jobs. I really enjoy cooking so I'd be more than happy to share some recipes and cook together!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love cooking, I actually enjoy tidying up and organizing, and I'd like to think I'm pretty funny. David is a handyman and we're both pretty laid back people! We usually tend to leave any place we stay at cleaner than we arrived (not saying your place is dirty) and we like to help out whatever host we're with, so if you have yard work or housework we're on it!
