About Me

ABOUT ME

My boyfriend and I enjoy traveling to a place and doing our best to jump in and engage with the culture and the people- whether that be in rural Maine or the center of Osaka, Japan. These days we want to be able to travel with purpose, not just pass through and take in the sights, but contribute in meaningful ways as we journey.

PHILOSOPHY

Searching for truth in all its forms- its a fantastic journey and I feel lucky to be a traveler.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Traveled on shoestring budgets and knocked on strangers doors asking to pitch my tent in their yard before-- never been an "official" couch surfer as of yet- but hoping to test out this network of like-minded and generous folk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going on a bicycle trip for two weeks around rural Maine and stopping each day to ask strangers if I could pitch my tent in their yard. I expected some harsh responses, some rejections, some downright psychopaths. Instead I was never turned away, always welcomed, and spent some of the most enriching time in my life learning from these strangers as diverse as a couple of Korean missionaries to a jewelry maker, to an industrial designer. I met a guy who fixed cars while wearing a kilt, a woman from Germany who fed me a picnic lunch, and a fellow that had done everything from take part in a traveling carnival, to tuna fishing, to race car driving. What a beautiful varied world we live in.
