About Me

Hi there, nice to meet you! Quick intro: proud inhabitant of Groningen, always eager to meet new people and explore different cultures, information manager by day, many interests like diving, climbing, nice meals, good wines, challenging conversations, active surf and host visits. I do not want to commit too far into the future so last minute surfers are especially welcome!

I live in the vibrant city of Groningen, the fifth-largest city in the Netherlands, located in the north. Known for its dynamic student life, over 30% of its 233,000 residents are students. I moved here for my management science studies and have called it home ever since. As a freelance contractor working across the country, my schedule varies. When I'm not working from home, I'd be delighted to host you and give you a tour of my city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, Couchsurfing is the ultimate way to meet cool, interesting, and open-minded individuals, diving deep into diverse cultures. I relish the opportunity to share my city and its gems, dive into meaningful conversations, and explore the big questions of life, the universe, and everything. Whether it’s enjoying a glass of wine by a campfire, grabbing a bite in a local spot, or engaging in something more adventurous like climbing or diving, I'm all in.

Interests

I have a wide range of interests and enjoy discovering new experiences.

Visiting bars or restaurants for a delectable meal paired with fine wine, beer, or even a soda (depending on my schedule the next morning) is something I greatly enjoy. When you're at my place, I love taking the opportunity to cook. Any favorite dishes?

In the area of sports, I have a passion for scuba diving and have been an instructor for many years. I also make it a priority to work out at least three times a week. Although it's been some time, climbing remains one of my hobbies.

I spend a lot of time on YouTube, watching channels like Veritasium, The Science Asylum, Be Smart, Debunked, Corridor Crew, Kurzgesagt, and PBS Space Time. They really satisfy my interest in science. I always welcome a good conversation about these subjects.

Like many Couchsurfers, I have a love for travel, exploring new cities, wandering through museums, and immersing myself in culture.

Teach, Learn, Share

From ‘Bucket List’ (2007):
“You know, the ancient Egyptians had a beautiful belief about death. When their souls got to the entrance to heaven, the guards asked two questions. Their answers determined whether they were able to enter or not. ‘Have you found joy in your life?’ 'Has your life brought joy to others?’” (Mention an item of your buck list in your host request!!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Your time should be as memorable as mine! I'm happy to share my Couchsurfing experiences and tell you about my country. Of course, I'd be glad to help out around the house or cook dinner if you'd like. I'm always careful with your belongings and respectful of your house rules.
