About Me

Hi!
I'm Jędrzej (YEN-jay / Andy), a Polish guy by birth and heart from Southern Poland but forced to live in Warsaw. I have degree in international relations and I am still studying law at Univeristy of Warsaw. I'm into history, politics, and hiking – I'm also pretty talkative and love having all kinds of chats, especially about local cultures and digging into the stories behind different countries. When I was 5 i moved out with my family from my homecity in Silesia/Oberschlesien- Bytom/Beuthen to Warsaw.
If you are going to Warsaw or looking for hiking/mountaineering advices about Poland drop me a message!

This is my 16 personalities test's result:
Personality type: Logician (INTP-T)
Traits: Introverted – 72%, Intuitive – 60%, Thinking – 63%, Prospecting – 61%, Turbulent – 71%
Role: Analyst
Strategy: Constant Improvement

As you can see I prefer chill conversation and a beer than partying (but sometimes i like to dance a little bit;)
People are tend to say that I lied in my 16 personalities test and in real life I am completely different person but you will figure it out by yourself hahah :).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Some of my favorite books include "Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov, "The Trial" by Franz Kafka, "Another World" by Gustaw Herling-Grudziński, "Kartoteka" by Tadeusz Różewicz, "The Real War" by Richard M. Nixon, "Bitter Fruit: The Story of the American Coup in Guatemala" by Stephen Kinzer, "Crime and Punishment", “The Karamazov Brothers” by Fyodor Dostoevsky (I simply admire and relate to Dostoevsky)
Music: electro, techno, and indie rock. I like the Blaze, Brutalismus 3000, Rufus du Sol, and Foals.
Movies: The Seventh Seal," directed by Ingmar Bergman, “The peasants (Chłopi)”

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. I’ve got almost struck by a lighting hiking Chiquibal Volcano in Quetzaltenango department, in Guatemala during a storm
2. almost leant on a scorpion when i was hiking Telica Volcano in Nicaragua during a storm in the night (check the trees out first and then lean on it’s a good advise haha).
3. Survived Tehran’s traffic on a motorcycle
4. spent 10 days wild camping in Faroe Islands and being constantly soaked, blown away by wind etc
5. Trying to prove that I am German citizen based on 19th century family and Nazi documents like Deutsche Volksliste (still on the way but loving the process hahaha)

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy having deep conversations where we exchange ideas and learn from each other. I can give you an insight into fucked up history and politics of Poland and whole eastern block (we will try to figure out who hates each other in Slavic world - spoiler alert - almost everybody haha), i am as well a huge fan of politics of Latin American countries especially Central American ones (my final thesis was “Genocide as a tool of state policy - example of the American genocide of the Maya in Guatemala”)- so we can talk about the United Fruit Company for instance :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Languages: I'm fluent in English (C2 level) and German (B2+/C1 level). If you more adventurous i can teach you some useful words in Polish so you will be able to swear for 2 minutes straight.
I'm no master chef, but I do enjoy cooking up some Polish and Silesian dishes.I promise to try my best so my grandma won't spin in her grave 🥴🥴
